Burning speed not at maximum

Buy a decent burner, I burn movies at 8x and 16x without errors, lg drives look pretty, but they don't have a great reputation, besides you can usually set whatever software your using, to burn at the most suitable speeds, I've burned nlited os's that way on both sony and pioneer drives, without problems.

Kingston SSD V Series 40GB

Maybe. I'd still suggest a bigger intel drive. also no trim support yet. maybe at the end of the month for these. I believe kingston made these as they expected people to raid. don't quote me on that.

You don't want to write at max speed, you'll end up with errors. Anything I want to keep I don't burn any faster than 4X anyway.

Question about pricing on SSD

Hi guys, That blue screen when I pop in a DVD to the drive says scsiport.sys at the bottom. What could this be relating too? Is there a driver or update I need for my scsi?

Well you guys obviously know a lot more about these than I do. If you were buying one, which one would you pick? Or maybe I should be asking, at what price range, are they typically considered to be "decent"? As in, what's the best bang for the buck? Video cards for example. Everyone here knows you aren't going to get good performance (for modern gaming) out of a $60 graphics card. It's best if you start...

post BIOS screen pics please.
on my gigabyte board, when SATA is set as RAID, i get the "no drive detected" in the bios, but it works fine. If i set to SATA as IDE, they show up, but RAID doesn't work..go figure.

Its a PCI Express x1 card, vs x4, x8, or x16. Yes, the slot it plugs into is about an inch long. I've never used one so can't comment on its quality.

In theory the worst that can happen from a sudden loss of power is corruption or loss of data being read or written by the system. Since a powered down system doesn't really care about data (since it is off, after all) I'd venture a guess that the only real danger is that the controller on the drive gets damaged. But I'm more willing to bet that part of the design testing over at Indilinx ...

I'd say you'll be very lucky to find and SSD for that budget (even the low end 64GB Kingstons are a little more)

As long as people are willing to spend the coin they will stay high. The real question is what are HDD pricing to you? HDD pricing has significantly changes every year.

You have your HDD and SSD together in raid??

An SSD will blow your RAID out of the water. A RAID simply cannot do the seek times that an SSD will. SO if you're looking for a RAID with 2 Intel SSD's, that will be, like, 10x the performance you have now.

Sounds like PSU issue. What is your PSU?

You could do a RAID 5 arrary, but that require 3 drives.

You are confusing hard drive speed with port speed. Mechanical hard drives do not exceed 120-130 MB/sec, and at the inside of the HDD (as you fill it up, the data goes from the outside to the inside) they drop as low as 40MB/s.

I am looking into getting a RAID controller, but most of the brand names are unfamiliar to me, does anyone here have a recommendation for a 4 or 8 SATA port controller?
edit:
just found a mobo with 10 SATA ports and supports 0/1/5/10:

Any reason not to go with this?
