This timeline shows Sheryl Swoopes having her son on June 25th, 1997 , and playing her first Comets game on August 7th ( 6 weeks and a day later ). http://www.wnba.com/storm/history/swoopes_timeline.html Since they say she is due "in the spring" which is technically March 20th through round about June 21st, I guess there is a good chance she plays this year. OFFICIAL WNBA FREE AGENCY THREAD

It looks like coring is the WNBA equivalent to the NFL's "franchise tag". It's a designation that essentially traps the player and keeps them with the team and prevents them from entering free agency. The player gets the league minimum plus 10% to stay with the team.

Really?  Wow that is unexpected.  I guess congratulations to her but I have to think this was an accident I mean rookie of the year, mvp, gold medal, her value has never been bigger and now this?  I think I can hear the sparks and also DOnna Orender cussing from here lol

Congratulations are in order to Candace and Shelden Williams.  They are about to add a third addition to the family. The blessed event will cause Candace to miss the 2009 season.  Guess the WNBA will have to find another player to hype. Link

http://www.wnba.com/sparks/news/candaceparker_pregnant_090107.html It's most definitely true.  But notice in the title it says spring so she may be ready for the season.  And remember, season starts later this year due to the WNBA trying to accommodate those who play overseas.  I can't see her not playing this year - maybe missing two weeks or so, but that's it.

Chamique Holdsclaw along with Laura Harper and Crystal Langhorne came to the Terps game, today, at Comcast Center. I thought she looked great and seemed to be having a good time. I, for one, will be happy to see her play again in the W.  ;-D
