Happy Thanksgiving
Published (2009-11-24 15:45:00)
Off to Denver........Hope you guys have a great holiday........if you haven't read Abraham Lincoln's Thanksgiving declaration of 1863:  (almost as eloquent as Linus in a Peanuts' Christmas :-)   The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come,...

Mr. Vitale - another GREAT post.  This question had been asked at the beginning of Bradleys miserable tenure as he showed his preferred addiction to the double destroyer which was so anti-american, anti-offensive, and miserably suited for us that I think we accepted the single destroyer look he has now employed.  I agree that eliminating this for two traditional midfielders would be a step forward.  A 4-3-3 would be even better and...

Spurs 9 Wigan 1, Dafoe with 5

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsB6FFg94oU For those who didn't see it yet.  I saddest part is watching the goalie pounding the ground with his fist when Defoe gets his third...and know there are five more goals coming. Sad. There is also a great own goal later in the clip by Ricketts.  He is shrugging his shoulders before the ball in even in the net.  Classic.

SOccer experience? I'm a beast at fifa 10?? I play in an over 20 league at RB and I'm terrible.  I cant wait till I can move up to the over 30 league in 2 years... then I can outrun some people. I came to soccer late in life.

This is a repeat of a post on another topic, but warrants its own thread:   Torres should replace Clarke/Edu (though I do like Edu).  I don't understand why Bradley HAS to have a defensive center mid- play some creative guys together and tighten up the backline, and the world will open up!  Spector is excellent in any position, he is poised and strong, and if Demerit is healthy or of course Gooch (who the US needs badly) there is no...

As a very proud father I will give my oldest son props as ZABE2010 was named 1st team Academic All-Ohio this season and had a great year after missing all of last year with total ACL reconstruction.  I'm very PROUD of you son!!!     That's good to hear, congratulations, I hope he is ok...Ohio is a good state for soccer.  Tell him this advice if he is trying to go to the next level: RUN as much as possible!!!  Fitness is a...

Bradley has tried this before and every time the USMNT has been shredded! The US has a hard enough time holding possession, when you take away any resemblance of a holding/defensive midfielder, the US has been constantly caught needing their backline to defend against 6 players coming forward. Without a holding/defensive midfielder, the US is not good enough to hold enough possession and they leave far too large of a gap between the midfield...

beckerman and holden are not starter material but "trash"?  pretty harsh evaluation.  you say we should be fine with this pool, but this pool is not entirely composed of strikers, and we are pitifully thin at that position without davies.  you would really rather see the "experience" of brian ching and EJ in action, again?!?  findley is not the answer to all our woes but he is a POSSIBLE answer ...

Waste of my time to read... Could have just said: Set MLS up exactly like European leagues. End Article.---- MLS's model is working, the league is growing. The league will not be making any major changes in the near future, nor should they. The one thing I believe will happen is a promotion/relegation system when the league feels it has reached max amount of teams.

I think the question is, how would a strike negatively impact any moves overseas.  Would the MLS nix a transfer or trade due to the impending strike?  This could have a serious effect.  I understand the need for a strike, as we have all read about players going to the A League for better pay which is pretty ridiculous.  Let's hope it doesn't blow up in the face of certain players.

Given that my boy Sacha "missed" a penalty last night......I thought I'd bring up what I regard to be the cardinal sin in taking penalties.  Missing.  You simply must make the goalie make a save.  Donovan knows this, why Beckham, Terry, Ronaldo and Sacha don't, is beyond me. Still, I guess it is even more fundamental to not set the ball in a divot and/or make sure your run up is slow enough ...

What is really sad are the forwards walking back even when the ball is still in the attacking third and then get called for offside. Why managers let them get away with that is beyond me?

You are spot on here Damon.  As for the size issue - Dolo and Donovan are both 5'6 and do just fine on the pitch.  Xavi weighs 130 pounds...  One thing I love about soccer is that your success on the pitch has absolutely nothing to do with you hitting the genetic lottery like in most every other American sport.   If there is any player that plays "too small" it has got to be Cunningham whom - ...
