With the Jets, we were the car used in driver's ed course that has scrapes and dents from the virgin drivers at the wheel. lol, and Herm Edwards was given a bus by accident in driver's school. Unfortunately, nobody hopped on it.

As I always say, you become a serious factor (Giants last yr are a big-time exception) when you win over 10 games. We haven't done that in a decade. How many times have we done it since we won a SB 4 decades ago? Twice (1985 being the other year). That sickens me. 3 times if you count the 10-5-1 season. That's not over 10 wins! And if you want to count that, then hippie skippie!!! In the past 4 decades, our best...

It should be a close game. I felt a whole lot better about picking Oklahoma before the Big 12 got exposed in the bowl season. I'm not huge on Florida either, I think they're being a bit overrated by everyone, OP included. Utah should finish #1. 13-0 is 13-0....

I would say what "we have in this kid" is somewhere between Dan Fouts and Joey Harrington.....and he's MUCH closer to Harrington I'm afraid...... The thing is, we don't know what we have. His only starting experience were 7 games spread out over a season (not consistently). He had good chemistry with Jerricho Cotchery... he had great 4th-quarter-poise. He sometimes made mistakes, but he has all...

Book it! Mark it down... Tebow destroys the OSU D. Of course now that I've picked the Gators, they'll probably lose. I've had a good run of badluck picking games lately. =]

Jets did not have a championship D
Published (2009-01-08 18:56:00)
Wow, i'd make the case that we're a lot worse in a 4-3. Pace is much better as a 3-4 OLB, he couldn't even start at 4-3 DE in Arizona. Harris is a better fit for 3-4 ILB as he's strong and great at shedding blockers, and while he's not slow, 4-3 MLB's need great sideline to sideline speed, ala a Vilma. I think he'd be good in a 4-3, but he's better in a 3-4, it suits his skills better. I...

where is this franchise going?
Published (2009-01-08 14:29:00)
honestly? everyone says we have a "win now" team... i don't think we are even CLOSE to winning a superbowl with this roster. as so many have said, you need two things to win a superbowl... a defense and a qb. as of now, we don't have either. and it looks like we aren't close to getting a QB (i think we are a good DC, CB, S, ILB, OLB although that could be gholston away from a good defense). right now, i think the best...

LOL 21...but c'mon it doesnt take a genius to realize that the NFL is way different today then even from the early 90s I was just curious. In the entire 1970's, neither the Jets nor the Giants made the playoffs. The Jets were much worse in the 70's than they are today. The Jets of 75-77 were nearly as bad as the team in the 90s that went 4-28. I guess I realize how much worse things can get.

Oklahoma's offense is based on heavy shotgun formations and heavy shorter passes. Florida's defense may not be world beaters but they are more athletic and I think when the time comes they'll make more plays. I'm predicting UF 52 OU 21

According to rotoworld Dewayne Roberston played in less then 1/2 the snaps so we won't get the pick and GB has our third one(Favre trade). It appears we do not have one. Am I correct?

The hysterical media is already promoting the doubt-filled idea that now that Mangini is gone, he will be a heck of a coach in Cleveland and this decision will come back to haunt the Jets franchise. These are many of the same people who called for Mangini's head last week. Get a grip people! Just like with Penny, Jets fans and many posters on here already know what Mangini brings to the table....

according to Clayton. I don't buy they're serious candidates, of course. And rotoworld does a good job, but boy did they screw up that final line... that's EXACTLY Woody's hire, it's a fact! The Jets had in offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer for a second head-coaching interview Wednesday. Like OL coach Bill Callahan, ESPN's John Clayton calls Schottenheimer a "serious" candidate ...

Pulled this from the Walter Football Mock Draft Website. Here are the Jets picks & some info: 17. Brandon Spikes, ILB, Florida The Jets have collapsed defensively late in the year, so they could be looking for the best player available at any level. That would be Brandon Spikes, who would form a lethal combination with David Harris at inside linebacker. 53. Hakeem Nicks WR North Carolina...

If no why not? I consider him to be on the same level as Bellick, even with Bellicks super bowl.

As much as I was upset about the collapse, now that cooler heads prevail, I have realized that our D was just not good enough to win a championship. A division title this year, yes, but not the AFC or SB. Besides an atrocious scheme that we've dissected on here ad nauseum, the LBs were slow in coverage, and the rotating CB position opposite Revis was a major weakness. The safety position also ...

The Newark Star-Ledger reports that offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has emerged as the favorite to be the Jets' next head coach. Schottenheimer, who interviewed Thursday, has apparently passed Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo atop owner Woody Johnson's wish list. Spagnuolo interviewed Saturday and reportedly "wasn't as prepared as one would think". A Schottenheimer hiring would not impress a...

Look...outside of wanting Cowher (who looks as though he will opt out of coaching in 2009)..there is only one other NO BRAINER....SHANNAHAN! Bolen is going to RUE the day they let him go. I am 100% certain of this. Sheets, you are mad about Woody not talking to Cowher....you should be MORE mad about him saying Shanny is off th elist (because he wanted to wait 2 weeks). Woody shoudl have said...

One thing Sheets can't stand is the "gossip garbage"... you know, like the Cowboys (or wherever TO goes). It really, really pi/$$es me off that TJ has become TO... I hate when players rip other players... but REALLY hate (and only TO comes to mind as someone besides TJ who's done this) when they rip how they played. Anyway, the "gossip garbage" has resulted in me barely reading this board, ...

Two questions: 1. Since 1995, does anyone think George Steinbrenner ever planned a vacation from Oct 2 - Oct 9? 2. Assuming you say "no", why hasn't he? Okay, I'll answer these questions, even though I don't defend Jets mgmt "no matter what": 1. No chance in hell 2. Because he cares about his team... he's passionate about it. If he wasn't at a Yankee playoff game, I'd assume he died. ...

Interesting from Boland's chat today... he said (basically, I'm too lazy to copy it, apparently), "lots of whispers that the Jets will dump Kellen Clemens this offseason." I believe he said he didn't buy it.

I thought this might happen. Especially with the veteran more attractive top-tier coaches who don't need the coaching gig. Not a chance in hell any coach in his right mind who wasn't desperate for a head coaching job would want to come to a team with Brett Favre still holding the organization hostage. It's a shame too. Favre might literally be the worst thing to have ever happened to the ...

This is not just in regards to your search, it happens all the time and I dont get it. Why do teams look at the "hot" coordinator from an elite team? Do they not realize the coordinator looks so smart because hes coaching elite talent? They dont get to bring those guys with them. Brian Billick was an "offensive genius" in Minnesota when he had Cunningham, Moss, Carter, and Smith. He then went to ...
