Let me be a bit clearer - I think it's a good signing.  I actually think it's a very good signing for MIL and improves the BP. That being said, I think people are jumping the gun if they think they are getting the Hoffman that has been heralded for a very padded and overrated career.  He is in absolutely no way one of the games top closers (as someone said earlier).  He's lost too much speed on his fastball to hide what was...

1.  The Brewers were looking at Dunn, only if we were able to trade Mike Cameron.  2. I think the Ben Sheets - 1 year deal is a real possibility.  The Market domino effect is slowing down and guys like Perez, Sheets and Wolf are on the back end without a deal.   They all can be had for below market value.   If Sheets is going to get the same amount of money from another club as he would from the Brewers...I think he would rather stay...

" One aging closer close to breaking down and glorified DH who is just AVERAGE by which other sluggers are compared...... or one of the most lethal hitters ever still at the top of his game? I'd choose Ramirez over both of them. " And when the Brewers are up by 1 in the top of the 9th on the road, or bottom of the 9th at home, you'd trot out whom exactly to close out the game?  McClung? Hoffman converted 30-34 saves last...

should prince fielder be traded
Published (2009-01-08 18:04:00)
I am not so sure.   I think the key question is....do the Brewers plan on trying to re-sign Fielder? I really dont know what their plan is.   I have feeling they want to hold on to him for one more year then trade him next off-season for pitching.  I personally dont like it.  If, we only plan on holding on to him for one more year, why not trade him away for a stud major leage ready #1 or #2 (Halladay, Cain...etc).  It could be that...

So overall Keith Law prolly didnt watch nothing but highlights on Gathright  so I dont see him as a solid scout. Too bad you're completely uneducated on who Keith Law is....   I know who Keith Law is and I know How Gathright played lastyear   he made very few mistakes in CF last year and most mistake he made was in LF just causer the Cubs got themselves a great 4th OF dont mean that you need to be trying to clown the move or...

I agree with most of the points, but I just want to add that Melvin is far from being down. Just like adding Hoff today greatly improved our bullpen we could do the same tomorrow or next week with our rotation and lineup... we could sign Sheets to a 1 yr deal for aprox 10 Mil and make a push for an Abreu or Dunn and our team would be looking really solid going in to next year. I guess my point is fans need to stop with the...

what would the giants have to give you guys? consider cain/lincecum untouchable. in your guys opinion what would it cost the Giants?    if those guys are untouchable, it would probably take sandoval, bumgarner, sanchez, and maybe another good prospect (in the top ten of the giants system).

This guy is one of best hitters in baseball ever and hes just dangling out there, nobody wants him. I think Brewers should give him a look. I forget what Dodgers offered him but we should give him 2 years and 50 mil and see if he bites. Everybody is talking about adding guys like Abreu and Dunn...heck with it if we cant get arms lets see if we can SLUG our way to a title. I KNOW its just a pipe ...

1. Bring in Dunn or Abreu. With the way the market is drying up I would hope we could get one for a 2 yr deal = low risk. If it is Dunn I would want him to play first and then trade Fielder for some pitching prospects. I wouldn't want to see Dunn roaming the outfield. I basically see Dunn as the same player as Fielder, but it would allow us to get something in return for Fielder, who will not ...

no matter what happens with the crew in 09' the signing of a hoffman makes the statement to fans that management is doing there all to stay on top. along with julio it makes the sting of cc leaving go away. i can now see them bringing sheets back along with another reliever or two. solid move by melvin and company, wonder how many more they have up there sleeve.

Please stop bashing everything the Brewers do. If you want to see a team sign Sabathia, Abreu and Fransisco Rodriguez, go be a fan of the Mets or Yankees. The Brewers will never be a team that does that. Everything the brewers have done this offseason has been bashed. CC was never ever gonna resign here. The only thing that got our hopes up was the media. One site out of the millions reported ...

Tailor made for BrewerBasher: Bob (Tinley Park, IL): Hey K-Law, thanks for the chat. What do you think of the Cubs signing Joey Gathright? Low OBP, kinda reminds me of Pie, so why not just keep Pie as 4th/5th OF'er?   Keith Law: (1:09 PM ET ) Pie has actual upside, whereas Gathright just kind of stinks. And Gathright's a lousy defensive CF too.

Bobby Abreu - 9 new posts

Is saying he might take a one year deal to get back on the market next offseason. I think Abreu would be a nice addition to RF, it obviously means trading Mike Cameron and moving Hart to CF, but Abreu or even Dunn for that matter would be huge for people getting on base in front of Braun and Fielder. It would cost the Crew about 6 or 7 million for Abreu, assuming they can trade Cameron and his ...
