welp since the yankees actually beat the angels or boston which i didn't think would happen i am officially out of here for good . To be honest i haven't really missed it. Considering it is only 5 yankee fans with 5 different names taking over this board good riddance. ... As for this board i am sad to say it is officially dead to most red sox fans. Let the five preteens troll this board from now till eternity's end who...

The Halladay Rumors
Published (2009-11-27 23:55:00)
I can't believe that the media can publish reports saying things like the Jays will require two top-tier MLB ready prospects. Don't they remember what happened 2-years ago when a 28-year-old left-handed ace named Johan Santana was traded a year before free agency? There were no takers and he eventually ended up getting traded for one good prospect and three other insignificant low-tier prospects. What makes people think things will...

What's everyone's take on this- do the sox have enough on the farm to acquire BOTH of these guys? I was thinking something like this: Halladay for Buchholz Kalish Kelley Exposito Cabrera for Lowell Bowden Doubront Anderson Think deals like this get it done? Toronto gets a great package for Roy, but we would lock him up for something like a 4/70mm extension. Cabrera has a huge contract Detroit would want to unload, and they get a...

The New England-Boston argument is just plain lame. Technicalities are for girls. Why does "Sports Center Boston" cover the Pats then? They are the Boston Patriots. They are Boston's team, my friend, get over it.

Your Offseason

What trade and free agent moves would you make? Mine would be- Re-sign Jason Bay Trade for Adrian Gonzalez (Lowell, Varitek, AAA Prospect) Trade for Tommy Hanson (Ramon Ramirez, AA Prospect) Trade for Roy Halladay ( J.D. Drew, cash, AAA Prospect, Daisuke Matsuzaka) I know its unlikely that some of those deals would go through, but it would be nice. Overall, I think it would make them younger, better, and it would get rid of some overpaid...

Ok, You think Drew is going to have the best OPS in the league if he is playing a full season - oh wait - he never has. Shut your hole. So not only did you avoid everyquestion, but you're now running with the idea that somehow Drew isonly good because he doesn't achieve some arbitrary amount of gamesplayed. Are you saying if he did, his production would surely godown? If he wouldn't have played through back injuries...

Denny, You are not very bright. All they have to do is sign Figgins - easily the most versatile player in the bigs and this whole notion about moving Lowell, Youkilis, et al. to different positions is over. Damn, are you dumb.

Boston Trying To Dump Lowell... LOL
Published (2009-11-27 14:45:00)
The truth will eventually come out. Boston has already offered to pick up half of Lowell's salary for at least one team (Rockies) and told, no thanks. Personally, I don't understand why the Red Sox are willing to pay ANY of his salary for another team to take him. If Lowell is such a reliable, productive player... They should just keep him... play him all season. Or at least platoon him... Oh, not you normal right/lefty platoon......

wow. sad. total obligated (to include predictions from arbitration) - $124.6 million if they sign Bay or Holliday it will be around $18 million. A (SS) and starter and you're looking at around $8-10 million. Without bonus money and other backdoor compensation, the sox will have a payroll over $150 million, a lot for a small market "do the right thing" team. wow. Sad.

people it is time. it is time to move pedroia to short stop and youkilis to second base. then get nick johnson for first base and move Lowrie to third. the only fair way to do this is to let mike lowell at least try to play left field in spring training. he will prolly fail since he has never played there. when he does release him. then he can not say we did not try. then it is time for ...

I also don't want Halladay or Cabrera. Pitchers who are looking for the money he is sure to get and are on the wrong side of 30 scare me, especially with the amount of innings he has logged. Not worth the youth IMO. And as far as Cabrera, I don't want him for the same reasons I don't want Gonzalez.

I'm not sold on Chapman and I think he will end up going for a lot less than minimum $20M rumored. The Red Sox will probably avoid signing him. They've invested a lot of money in an international pitcher before, Matsuzaka, and didn't get what they had hoped. Chapman is still very raw and needs a lot of refinement. He has the potential to be the best pitcher in baseball but could also end up ...

Larry, explain to me how Lowells numbers from last year were bad? THey were solid numbers. Nothing wrong with them at all. You're acting like he put up First half Papi numbers, or something. For the amount of time he missed, his numbers were good, actually.

4/70mm for Roy? If I'm him, I decline the trade and wait for free agency. If I'm him, I know the Yankees will pay me more than that.
