Forget LF get a real first baseman

Other names have been floated: Carlos Pena, Prince Fielder, Miguel Cabrera I am sure even more by the end of the trade season. Not saying we should get these guys but we should look at them Carlos Pena has been discussed but would probably cost you 2 high prospects for a 1 year rental. Prince Fielder's another, but again would definately cost 2 high prospects for a 1 year rental. And working a financially affordable deal for...

Lowe for Lowell seems like a deal the Sox would be interested in doing. They want to dump Lowell from the roster, and they were interested in Lowe at $11mm. Lowe at $15mm times 3 less Lowell's money is roughly $11mm. Perhaps the Braves have to toss in a prospect, but it seems like the foundation of a trade that could be made.

Hopefully there would be enough money to resign Laroche. We would still need to trade a pitcher if we got Holliday. How about Lowe+Johnson for Uggla? Mclouth Heyward Jones Holliday Uggla Laroche McCann Escobar

All the players mentioned for trade are 1 or 2 year "rentals" If we can do a trade and not have to move Freeman then it should be ok. I believe in a year or two the free agent first baseman market is going to be flush with good first baseman anyways right? We need a first baseman now. If this lineup had that big bat to hit cleanup and play first base I think we could have a better team than Philadelphia. I am fine with...

Will Freeman play this year?
Published (2009-11-25 14:48:00)
Hopefully not, that means another 3rd/4th place finish Link? This is one time I have to agree with Nate. If we are seeing Freeman this year, it's because A. We have fallen mightly out of the division race and traded away most of the starting lineup B. We have been ravaged by injuries and forced to call him up Look for him in 2011.

exactly, alot of posters are focused on the fact the braves need a leftfielder when this is not really a issue! i feel comfortable with the outfield braves have now as long as they get a BIG BAT at first base. yeah i know it will cost braves some prospects or a starting pitcher, or both.dont waste this chance now by filling 1st base, or outfield withe mediorce or old has beens just to get by! theres agood chance the braves will need a new...

Hall of Fame

Trammell was one of the best shortstops of his era, while McGwire posted some of the greatest numbers ever, although I wouldn't vote for him because of the steroids matter. Hentgen once won 20 games and a Cy Young Award (1996), and Appier, Lankford, and Ventura were all among the better players at their respective positions for a certain period of time. None of them are worthy of the Hall of Fame in my eyes, but there's no harm...

Not in any important role. I would look for him in Sep 2010 or June of 2011

Fix the Braves in 2 moves.

Pretty sure any A-Gon trade starts with Freeman. Don't think it would be possible to pull off that trade with only Teheran as the centerpiece.

I saw a thirty-year-old Julio Franco hit a single, and it's a shame that Bo Jackson didn't just stick with baseball rather than hurt himself in football. Indeed, his combination of power and speed proved spectacular.

My 1st question would be: How in the heck did Joel Youngblood make the 1981 All-star team with only 161 PA and his career stats up to that point? Was he the only Met on that team? You'd think they could have found someone on the Mets more deserving. If so, maybe he forgot his Met helmet and had to use some other team's?

in fact they dont have the money. Their owner has already said payroll will be cut a little this year and most of the writers are saying they in no way can afford Holliday and to fix their rotation

After getting used and abused by almost every player and his agents last year, I took an oath not to follow hot stove league day by day this year. So in summary, can somebody give me all the rumors and news from last 3-4 weeks all summed up. If ya can do that every couple weeks it would be cool. I refuse to be yanked around like we were last year by many players and agents. It was ...

my thoughts are that agon would be the best fit for the braves, with the lowest intial contract cost. the money saved by not resigning laroche could be used to do some others moves to solidify the braves offense. yes, there is that chance the braves cant resign agon, and yes it is going to cost freeman and some other lower prospects. i dont think the padres would take KK as they are trying to get ...

Yeah, I agree. The braves can do it without Lowe. They need to get a young third baseman, first baseman, and a young pitcher. I'm glad to see Hanson in the rotation this year. I think he can get 15 wins this year. The pitching staff is strong but for power hitters... Let's just play small ball this year. let things work out and get to the playoffs.

Many posters in here would like the Braves to trade for Adrian Gonzalez. Which is understandable, since the guy is a excellent 1b, with a great bat. But to get him, I think almost everyone agree's it would take a package that includes Freddie Freeman + 2 other pretty good prospects. And I think most posters in here would admit, this trade could very well end as a 2 year rental. If all of this is...

While this does make for some interesting scenarios. I take anything by Ken Rosenthal with a grain of salt. The man lives to makeup rumors. Interesting scenario. McLouth Prado Chipper Dye McCann Escobar Cameron Heyward/Diaz

"everyone" is likely one troll/espn-forum- promoter who uses multiple sign in names in an attempt to promote discussion. it's a rather tired act. just ignore it. most of us understand that schafer has a lot of promise and may well be a very solid ML player who hurt his wrist and couldn't overcome the injury. time will tell, and he should be given every opportunity to shine.

For $2million, i'd take a look at him, otherwise, he's overpriced for what he's worth... He cannot play 3b anymore, he's incredibly injury-prone, and his play last year (his first season above 300 PA since 2006) was horrific (.234/.277/. 459 with a 26/108 bb/k)...he's a wild card pickup, not someone you get counting on any production...
