Ok, let me rephrase then. Is the WEG Star Wars game an RPG? After all, it was right in the rules you couldn't kill certain characters, they had Plot Immunity. Are the original Dragonlance modules RPG's? You could not die in the early modules, named PC's and NPC's had plot immunity and the DM was required to provide reasons why they didn't die before certain points. I'm quite sure there are others as well.

I had two issues with the book, which I highlighted in a previous thread:
1) I never played 1st Edition, and therefore did not already know how saves worked. The book never explained how, either. But EnWorlder's helped me out with that.
2) There are some index entries with only one page number listed: the index page of its entry.
Other than that, it was solid and slick. A great time...

It doesn't both me at all. I use the net to get books all the time so using it to get oop gaming books is easy to do. Most of them are cheaper then when they were first printed.
Of course some games have become harder to find like Changeling the Dreaming. So, when I was going to run that a few years ago I purposely bought many spare copies of the main book and key suppliments so players ...

I think the message of the movie is that everyone is special, and that what makes people exceptional is the courage to use their gifts to their fullest and be honest about their frailties.

I play with published defenses in a PbP game so that players can tell immediately if they hit without waiting for the DM to post. Works fine.
Doing average damage with a hit has been proposed, but you have to update any rule that involves rerolling damage dice, such as the Brutal property.

My players have never wanted to name their groups. They say a name is an artificial construct that would be applied by outsiders, not created by themselves.
I have a band of "evil" NPC adventurers currently being "promoted" in the local broadsheet. They're running a contest to select a name. The PCs found this hilarious, and mocked it thoroughly. I intend to give the group a mockable, though...

Probably not the answer you want, and naturally it's only my opinion, but I'd say,
He's right. Not only is he right, it should have been done 25 years go.

I try to always leave a way to advance the plot, should the PCs choose not to follow up on the plot, well they clearly didn't find it interesting. I try to do less overarching plot and more reoccurring villain types of plots.

huh... I've found them to be enjoyable, myself. I don't care much for optimizataion, but the feats and powers have been enjoyable, and they're fairly useful to give a new player to show him a baseline idea of what options are good.
As far as the art goes, I don't think they have to draw minmax powergameus for each and every depiction of a character. Not only that, it was drawn by Gabe of ...

There are some places on the web that I'nm sure people are running these tpye of games. I don't play PbP so I'm not sure were.
As to what game you should learn, it really depends to what you have access to and personal preference. I like mixing OSRIC and 1e as they go together well and one smooths over the other. Plus I like the feel of having the old books infront of me and for the ...

It's an interesting question, but I think the draw of some archaic words might strictly be in nostalgia. If you posed the same question, but instead said it wasn't written by EGG but instead by some writer last month, I think the answer would be clearly that those words would be for the most part not understood, and should be edited and changed.
I'm all for flavorful words, like in Magic the ...

2. Power cards. I play the same character week after week, but my powers are still just a bit too complicated for me to simply write them on my sheet and remember them. I need these danged cards, which have meager graphic design.
I wish they'd put some sort of background pattern in the green/red/black bars for powers. Like some simple theme to match the class you get the power from. Make them...

I haven't got into 4e , but there is a couple of things about it that I like quite a bit.
Skill challenges: I like. A codified set of rules for dealing with non-combat encounters with enough ' wiggle-room' to make it your own.
Rituals: I like. Not so much the implementation, but the idea that it's a way to allow more powerful spells to PCs without having to worry about said spells ...
