[December] What are you watching?
Published (2009-11-30 18:03:00)
At some point in December I am going to hermitize myself with the three extended editions of LotR (plus all of the features on the DVDs) and immerse my noggin in their fantastical greatness.

Little or nothing it seems. On the big screen: Did make it to see Ninja Assassin, it was so-so and you would think while they were training a Ninja assassin they would have thrown in some ninja lockpick! Next big release for me is Avatar! TV: NCIS and Bleach

Some fun stuff this episode. It's still pretty goofy, but I enjoy it nonetheless, and the plotting this season seems like much more fun.

For me, it was less about River and more about her brother, the Easterner, I mean, Simon. River's just a few scenes. Plus, when it was airing, Buffy and Angel were in shades of black, so it was good to see Whedon and company playing with a different tone and palette.

[November] What are you reading?...
Published (2009-11-28 18:40:00)
I've read more in the past weeks than I've read in several months! The time on the plane to and from Los Angeles needed to be spent. I read two Eberron Novels recently, the first two books from the Lanternlight Files (?), the second this month. In LA, I bought Heat Wave and Flash Forward, and I read them both on the way back. I enjoyed both. It was interesting to see the difference between the novel and the TV series inspired by the...

[December] What are you watching?
Published (2009-11-30 22:49:00)
Hand of Evil, you and me both. Movies, nothing recently. Nothing I'm really looking forward to. TV, probably nothing this month, given the holiday. The only shows that I regularly view now are HIMYM, House, Castle, CSI, Flashforward, and SGU. HIMYM has taken a hit in quality this season, though I'm hoping they get back into form. CSI is better than it was last season (though Ray still sucks), but not yet as good as it once was....

Did you listen to the comentaries on the DVDs? They don't tell the whole story but they tell a good one.
Yes, you must be oblivious to what people like on TV, because people in general have rarely liked science fiction or anything that non science fiction people can call science fiction.
But it is not that simple. Fox aired them out of order and really treated the show like they didn't ...

I agree. To me (a big fan of the original series, who thought a remake was questionable at best), this failed on just about every level.
Patrick McGoohan's Number Six took all the crap that the Village (and the slew of "new Number Twos") could throw at him, and not only survived intact but often ran rings around them, turning their plans back upon them. In this new show, "Six" ends up ...

I have to say, I thought his episode was pretty good, but Nathan's death scene, where he's falling in slow motion as he slowly turns into Sylar, was freaking EPIC! I wanna watch that scene again, it was done so well. That's the Heroes that I was so wild about when it first began - I'm glad it's doing better at channeling its old potential.

Still reading Grey Seer a WFRP novel, found I have not had a lot of time to read these last few weeks.

Nice numbers for the top two. I didn't realize that Fantastic Mister Fox was in its third week. That's got some serious star power behind it to be doing so poorly and to be so low-key in its advertising. 9 seemed to have the same difficulty.

Seeing those ships kinda ruined the show for me. It takes away all the mystery. Up till that scene all we knew is that 29 ships were already on Earth. It was obvious they arrived undetected because the V's have already infiltrated nearly every government on Earth.
So, now the V's are busy manipulating the mass herd of sheep we call the public for some nefarious purpose. I can buy all that. ...

Well, I guess it says volumes that this show is at the end of my watching queue. I was the biggest fanboy, watching webisodes and wanking away plot holes and inconsistencies. I just don't feel any desire at all to watch it, it's purely a matter of "duty."
The single thing I enjoyed about the episode was that the writers seem almost coy about the way Lyle wasn't available but Mr. Muggles was. ...

Also, have you ever thrown a blond girl out of your class for sucking the creativity out of the room? (Reference to the first episode of Season 4, and yes, I am that much of a geek.)

After reading the book I have zero interest in the film. Hopefully, for its sake though it is more action then the book.
