You might also poke around for an "Eldritch Rogue" feat or something along those lines. There are a bunch of feats that combine some major ability progressions of two classes.

Spell DC When Casting From A Scroll
Published (2009-01-08 00:59:03)
It goes by the minimum that it could be cast at. So a scroll of a first level spell would need an 11 (+0) to cast, so it is DC 11 (10 + 1 Spell level + 0 ability). From the SRD : Quote: SAVING THROWS AGAINST MAGIC ITEM POWERS Magic items produce spells or spell-like effects. For a saving throw against a spell or spell-like effect from a magic item, the DC is 10 + the level of the spell or effect + the ability modifier of the minimum ability...

Sounds like he has some bravery issues in addition to his missing eye. But he is also supposed to be a cunning and convincing diplomat... How about calling him "Baltar?" Here's something I think would at least make him stand out visually and make him memorable: he wears an optical quartz* crystal carved into the shape of an eye as his artificial eye, hidden under an eyepatch. When he wants to intimidate someone or maybe...

I believe this is the answer, as found in the saving throws Against Magic Item Powers section of the SRD (emphasis mine): Quote: Magic items produce spells or spell-like effects. For a saving throw against a spell or spell-like effect from a magic item, the DC is 10 + the level of the spell or effect + the ability modifier of the minimum ability score needed to cast ...

How do you use the run feat when you have no constitution score, you can run 5 times your normal speed but to keep it up you must make a con roll, What do you use in it's place?

Just curious how everyone else would rule on this one. First let me set up some brief intro to the situation: I'm running a homebrew campaign and the party happened upon a cult of the Elder Elemental Eye. So they're in the cult's fortress and they get ambushed. The cleric casts wall of stone to wall off half of the enemies in a narrow hallway so the party can focus their efforts on half ...

Here's the scenario: Naga is swimming in water and threatened by flying PC who is diagonally adjacent. Someone casts control water and causes the water level to drop by 16 feet, thus causing the naga to lower along with the water. This occurs on the caster's turn, not the naga's. Does the naga provoke an AoO for dropping due to the declining water level? (since it can't fly and maintain ...

So, let's make an orc barbarian. Start with Str 15, add +4 for being an orc, for a 19. When he goes into a rage, his Str increases to 23, for a bonus of +6. If he wields a greataxe, he does 1d12+9 damage, with an average of 15.5. That's enough to drop a fighter in one hit. That's enough to kill a rogue or a cleric on a good roll. CR 1. How do you make an encounter with a 1st level orc ...

In the near future, I will be taking over DMing for our group. I'm planning to run Paizo's Rise of the Runelords adventure path for a party of 6 PCs (rather than the assumed 4-PC game). I'm not worried about scaling the encounters to challenge 6 PCs. My concern is adequately rewarding the party. With 6 players rather than 4, I know that I will need to increase the treasure and plant ...

I've got a little intra-party strife going on IMC right now. This is an online game using MapTool and Ventrllo for voip. Seems the rogue has been doing "rogue things" and got caught: detect magic by three different spellcasters found magic auras on the rogue and the party hasn't found any magic items yet (they were 2nd level at the time; just advanced to 3rd). The rogue tried to talk ...

So, now one of my players is using Greater Metamorphosis to turn into various things, all of which are enormous fun, but the one that gives me true logical headaches is the Prismatic Golem. Here's my question: what happens when you use magic to turn into something with the special ability (which G-M grants) of being immune to magic? Does it automatically cancel the effect? Or is it ...

I'm considering creating a warforged as a Gestalt lv 12 Warlock/Artificer and I can't seem to find what the gold costs, required materials and required spells would be. After a few hours of searching I've decided that my google-fu is weak. Anyone have any ideas that might shed some light on the matter? Thanks in advance, ~Benosmash

I need an opponent healer in an encouter. Possibly CR 15-18 or so. As I am tired of controlling long spell lists and spell-like ability lists of higher level opponents, I want something much simple comparing to a Cleric, yet effective as a healer. The encounter involves Red Dragons, so I checked Dragon Shaman. But their healing ability is very limited comparing to that of clerics. And it...

We are going to start Age of Worms soon and none of the other five players wants to play a Wizard and I think we will need one. So, I've decided to not use my original character idea and make a Wizard. The thing is I've played a lot of Wizards so there is no real concept I'm excited about. And as a player that never min maxes it occurs to me there are some cool powerful options out there I ...

I've struggled with this for as long as Sense Motive has been a skill and I'm still looking for answers. I run alot of mystery adventures where sooner or later someone has to be lieing. I've heard it said many times, "Sense Motive is not a lie detector" and yet you're supposed to make an oppsoed roll every time an NPC lies. I think it ruins the illusion for the players if we're roleplaying ...

Well, I am planning to use D&D Miniature's Githyanki Dragon Knight in my future game. But only the miniature, not the stats of it. That encounter will be fought by L17-18 PCs and thus I want to increase CRs of both the dragon and the rider some, maybe to CR 15 each or so. I can easily create a CR 15 Githyanki (Say, Fighter/Dragon Rider). But the strongest large red dragon is Juvenile and CR ...
