There are times where there are like 2-3 other aides in the room, so I just get to stand back, relax, and watch them do the dirty work.

One thing about being a CNA is you will not be too good to jump in and ensure the patient is changed prior to transport. Many EMS people will either stand around and wait for the staff to change the patient or take the patient wet and soiled. At least you won't wait, but jump in, grab a diaber and wipes, change and clean the patient and be on your way. So, hats off to you.

Why are you in EMS?
Published (2009-01-07 08:32:00)
I kind of stumbled into it. I started volunteering while in college.....no intention of making a career out of it. I then went to EMT school and one thing lead to another and one day I turned around and was a full time career paramedic. I work for a fire based service, and I've passed up many chances to transfer to an engine. Why haven't I? I can get much more fulfillment as a paramedic than a firefighter. Yes, fighting fire is fun,...

I've been on here a couple of days now, and I've got to say, I've already learned quite a bit from the other EMT's and Medics on here. I've only worked in EMS for 7 months now and I love it. I also work as a Certified Nurse's Assisstant, and It's nothing compared to being an EMT-B. Good Luck to everyone and Be Safe. ...

I grew up watching John and Roy, they were my heros. Also loved it when the firefighter/paramedics would bring the big red truck to school. I always thought they were so cool. I have just always wanted to help people. 91/2 years on career fire department. 8 1/2 years as a paramedic. Have volunteered and worked various ...

I am new to this sight. My name is Scott. I just took NREMT-Paramedic skills, about two weeks ago, and cognitive last Tuesday. I can't believe it but I passed both on the first attempt. I'm stoked. Cognitive seemed easier than what I had been told. I got cut off around 76 questions or so. Thought I had failed it......
