We keep a 5 gallon bucket of sand and a 5 gallon bucket of salt in one of the side boxes, along with a small shovel. Really helps when the walkways at a pt's home are slick, or if we get stuck . Ed

I was sitting in Legal and Ethical Issues class today as we talked about a case study regarding handing over clean syringes when asked my a junkie as they only have dirty one's. The knee jerk responses from alot of people ...

I am putting together a class on documentation and since so many hospitals are getting rid of long accepted abbreviations that I see used commonly in EMS ( MS = morphine or morphine sulfate), I wanted to find out if any services, states or other entities in EMS have compiled a list of acceptable abbreviations. Any link to ...

Recently my service had a pt "flip out" during a wheelchair van transport home. The individual could walk and initially had been calm, cooperative and pleasant, middle aged male. He let himself out of the safety belt and repeatedly asked the female driver for a HUG to help him calm down and tried to reach for her. This ...

Hello Folks, My service has recently decided to end the option of bidding a truck by two paramedics. What our mgmt doesn't realize is that on our busier trucks (5th busiest ambulance in the nation) a double paramedic crew is essential. It allows the crew to split the workload not to mention it cuts down on liability. ...
