sounds like you've got a fun project coming up. i hadn't done anything other than throw some simple speakers in the doors of a Toyota and install a head unit before taking on my e46 install, just do some reading, and it'll be a breeze. as far as your front speakers go, most people really appreciate components speakers for better imaging up front, and since putting 6.5" speakers in the door is an option, most people tend to...

Sub options

They can call it what they want, but I don't consider the so-called HK subs to be subs at all. With that said you may consider a powered sub that would install in the trunk & keep the HK amp for all other drivers.

subwoofer enclosure

You have to make the box according to the T/S parameters of the speaker you buy, otherwise it will sound like crap. U can't pick the box and then the speaker.Try to sort out several speakers that u like, then check out the recomended volume for sealed enclosure for each speaker (u can find these on the manufacturer's site). The one with the smallest volume wins .

You will have to disconect it anyway. Leave the changer there and use its plug in the trunk for the dice instead. You can't use both. I heard there is a "Y" adaptor that let you use both, but it is handmade not OEM.

Shouldn't be too hard to find some cheap replacements.
There really are no replacements for the 2.5" mid-range speakers other than BSW or (crappy) OEM. This...

Thanks for the thread. I just want to clarify some things. He wired the factory input wires to a SVEN4 then to his aftermarket amp, then to the speakers with crossovers inline to split the full range. correct?
If i do purchase an aftermarket amp and install my aftermarket HU, can i just run RCA straight to my amp, then to crossovers then to the stock wires that go out to the speakers? ...

Oh, and for those wanting a specific release date -- we've been down this road in the past and estimates only upset people. We're not promising anything specific this time. If I had to GUESS when the Stage 2 will be released, I'd say late in Winter 09/10 or early Spring '10 -- but DON'T PLAN ON IT. If you want an amplifier upgrade soon, understand you may have to wait more or less and we ...

My iPhone has this app called Trapster and gets updated actually pretty frequently. It alerts you of other user's submitted recorded speed traps, and you can also log your own observed logs. That would be cool for a GPS, but I personally wouldn't use it because of my routes usually the cops sit in the middle of the median so meh.

All fuses are intact. Does it matter that I have 05 325Ci, premium sound package with DSP. Also i didnt get the 6CD Changer for the trunk. Also all the switches on the box are set to the off position. Also I plugged in the wire to the ipod jack not the aux jack. Everything is wired as your directions stated. What did I do wrong. My bus. cd has the mode button which I pressed twice already? What...

well the smallest enclosures are the sealed ones. Better sound quality but lower pressure level. You can get higher pressure levels from a sealed enclosure also but that means making it bigger.

there is a remote cable coming out the back of the radio, you could tap into this, but i dont know where else it goes, so you would have to run it back from the front of the car.
if memory serves me, it is live all the time the ignition is on, but also becomes live when the ignition is off, but the radio is on. its used the power the aerial amplifier i believe, but i dont know what else.
