I have been suffering with MAV for 15 years. I have tried many types of medication. I took Depakote for a year and it seemed to help at first. But after 4 months I started gaining weight (25 lbs,) and lost half of my hair that came out in clumps. (very scary). I also couldn't use topamax . (major side effects) I have been to see Dr Baloh at UCLA. He is the MAV guru, he is an educator as well as a doctor. He put me on Paxil , which was...

Dear Notanabuser; I am not a drug abuser either and I'm from NH. I just moved here a few months back, I was seeing my doc in NH because she took care of primary care, pain mgt, and psyc meds and I loved her, she was SOOOOO nice. I had been on narcotics for my many issues with pain since before her, she took me in because I had no insurance and was forced to go to the Methadone Clinic everyday to be dosed like as if I was an addict. My...

HI! I am new to the site, and feeling quite desperate. I have been on methadone 100 mg. for about 2.5 years for the treatment of chronic, intractable migraines. It took me a while to find a doctor who didn't think I was an addict just trying to get pain meds. And in the past, I have tried EVERYTHING from holistic and herbal treatment to biofeedback, accupuncture, etc. to a list 2 ...

If you are talking about the drug otherwise known as Inderal then I will have to say it works wonders for social anxiety. I have an Rx for it and IMO it worked better than Xanax . It will prevent that fight or flight response that occurs when you start getting anxious in different social atmospheres such as at a party or speaking in public. I was given the Rx when I was talking to my Dr ...

Congrats cmpcpro on deciding to get help. I guess I would be on the other side of the desk so to speak on this one as I actually work at a psych hospital that offers detox. My one bit of advice is to stay away from clinics that offer methadone . I have seen a lot of patients that come away from those places worse off than they went in (their words, not mine). I even had one guy tell me he ...
