try and use a different video card if possible to see if it's a gfx card issue or not. also, check the gfx card itself out physically to make sure that there are no bubbled/exploded capacitors. if there are, then that would explain the problem. the rattling noise could be some wire(s) are hitting the fan of the video card, or perhaps the fan's bearings are beginning to fail resulting in a rattling noise.

I assume that you would be running Windows XP and then this is the graphics driver package you should try: GeForce Release 175 You may also need drivers for the motherboard. If you look for the manufacturers name and the motherboards model number then they have one or several packages for download at the company website. Good luck!

ZOTAC (Anyone heard of them?)

Ive seen a few reviews a while ago on Driverheaven but i know very little about them. A competition is running here at the minute for two of their cards with a funky looking USB overclocking device. Apart from that, no idea. You looking at buying something from them?

I have never owned a Zotac but I did some looking around after seeing the Zotac giveaway thread. There prices are a little higher than some other brands but they get really good reviews from several websites on the net (including this one) and they seem to do pretty well in benchmarks.

It could be another issue, wrong mode for the monitor, particularly if the system is not crashed at black screen, but continues to make the usual disk rattlings as it boots. In that case, hit F8 to get the windows boot menu (bit tricky to catch, start hammering F8 too soon and you may gey BIOS boot options instead) and then use the option to force VGA mode - if that boots ok, then change the dispaly to the appropriate resolution. And...

Well if it stopped working, then there might be an issue with the component converter itself. is there any possible way for you to try another component converter that came with the card? or do you only have the one converter cable that came with the card? What about different component cables? i don't believe it would be the "Force Television Detection" option within windows because ...

I had the same problem, after installing nVidia drivers on Toshiba Satellite 1415-S105, with GeForce4 Go 420. Max screen resolution was 969x768, and I couldn't do anything to get rid of the vertical black line on the right side of screen. Than I found a site with original Toshiba drivers for all models they ever made (even those discontinued) Here's a working video driver for GeForce4 Go 420...

Hi everyone, i have a 9300 quad core, 4gb ram, nvidia 9800gt, windows vista. When i try to run Devil May Cry 4 with directx10, i have a problem with the display, the colours go crazy. Do i have to define something in the properties after i install the drivers? (I formatted my computer recently. before i formatted it, the game ran smoothly with dx10)

Looks like it's more of a driver issue then hardware, it that's actually the case. Uninstall your drivers, use driver cleaner, load safe mode, install, and restart. If you still can't fix it then I'm guessing the card would be defective.

As the topic states, I'm wanting to upgrade my video cards. The GTX280 is too pricey for my taste so my next option would be the GTX260. With that in mind, I did some research and my results are below. I was just checking the specs on the GTX260 and the 8800GTX and there's not much of a difference. What I want to know is, are the differences enough to justify an upgrade from the 8800GTX to the...

I "JUST" bought the 9800GT 512 and it crashes allot. This rig is brand new, two days old. Heres the problem. When i test my GPU performance in devices settings, it regularly crashes with the blue desktop stating its in a continous loop.Sometimes it actually tells me the optimal settings but rarely. The first time i installed everything it actually crashed so bad i had to reformat my drive again. ...
