It seems that dual core (and by implication, hyperthreading) tweaks came in with 5.12 and were tweaked up in a few after that.
If you like the Omegas, why not try
the last ones made.

Sounds like you need the hot fix driver.....
Catalyst AGP
Hotfix - Radeon HD 3000 and Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products
If you're not sure if those will work, Check your manufacturer's website.

I think that
PowerStrip would be the easiest solution. It's a small utility
that can create custom resolutions.
