I rarely watch TV , a horrible time killer for me. I'd rather spent 24 hours at my computer desk rather than sitting in front of TV for an hour. I don't see free TV however to be dying or shrinking , everyday there is a new channel or more like spam.

well, new systems up and running. so far i hate win7. for some reason chromes working like shit on it. *3hrs of use and no problems so far. system runs very cool. cpu idles at 30c and gpu idles at 28-33c. only ran 2 benchmarks so far. l4d2 and 3dmark05. l4d2 hard rain, return, with the heavy storms. 1600x1200 4xaa 8xaf all max. heavy storm, boomer bile, and about 50+ zombies on screen. grenade into the middle of them only brought me down to...

Unfortunately no. You can only save to either an authorized memory card, or a 360 hard drive. External drives, be it a hard drive or flash drive, is only supported for media storage/playback.
As for using your own 2.5" drive in an empty case, it is possible to do this, but it requires you to update the firmware on your hard drive in order to trick the system into thinking it's a legit drive, ...
