As Optix suggested, most D-Link routers have a feature called Static DHCP, or DHCP Reservation (my D-Link DIR-655 has this function). You basically tell the router to always assign such and such IP to such and such computer name/MAC address. I usually recommend people that are thinking about doing static IPs to go this route instead.
