Vista to XP Downgrade
Published (2009-06-27 10:39:00)
The only thing I can suggest is to double checking which driver is installed. The one you want is for the Ricoh R5C833 memory card reader. I found a page a while back on getpcmemory right HERE that had all the XP drivers you'd need for the Dell 1520/1521. The last listing for drivers on that page is for the memory card reader. What you do is first uninstall the card reader through Device Manager (but only if there is no listing for it in...

Laptop Upgrade Questions
Published (2009-06-24 17:59:00)
Re: Laptop Upgrade Questions Most everything usually auto-detcts right out of the box with Vista (and with Windows 7). The mass majority of stuff will have built-in drivers or drivers available via Windows Update. HOWEVER, like it was mentioned, just go by the Dell support site and download the drivers before hand so you have them ready on a flash drive or whatever else. It makes doing re-installs or new builds so much easier. Some times you...

Some observations Netbook vs old laptop I decided to see if my old laptop still works. The batter is dead and I had to remove one of the two dimms to make it run without crashing. Windows XP. The hardware of the old laptop Compaq Presario 2816EA Pentium IV @ 1.7Ghz 256 RAM (now) Radeon Mobility 7500m with 64MB dedicated memory. 7200rpm 60GB Hitachi drive (my upgrade in 2002-3 or something). On the other hand a clone of MSI Wind with the Atom...

Vista to XP Downgrade
Published (2009-06-26 23:03:00)
Hello everyone! I just recently downgraded from Vista to XP on my Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop. I have everything working except the card reader slot. I found the driver and installed it but when I put the memory stick in the slot it doesn't work. Nothing happens. Did I miss something?? I'm kind of freaking out because I need to use the card reader slot often - I have my own photography business and I'm using this card reader...

I've got a friends Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, it was running very slow so I said I'd do the usual for him. Backup all his documents then reinstall windows. not so simple! Firstly, trying to boot from CD so I can boot into Ubuntu or reinstall windows. Took me long enough to work out I had to press DEL/ESC to get into the BIOS, but once I set it to boot from CD (and had a bootable CD in the drive), it just kept booting from the HDD....

I have a Compaq Presario C500 that will not go into sleep mode anymore. It used to work fine but I can't get it to work now. I can get hibernate to work, but using the sleep button, lid close or sleep from the start menu just shuts off the monitor while the laptop stays on. I've been through all the settings (have it set to hibernate on lid close now) and can't get it to work. It was working ...
