You missed the point! He suggest that one buy the newest one, with the least mileage and the 2010 is nearly $7,000 less than a similar Lexus. If mileage is not important, then why not buy an even older car and save even more money? As to the original question, a new car with zero mileage is always the "better deal." Every used car has mileage and one can never know for sure how it was used or abused, or if it was properly...

Ok, I might have found my mistake. Rereading the Chiltons, it says the the square half inch adjustment lever hole is on the rear of the adjustment pulley. I looked for the half inch lever hole, both under the hood and on the Chiltons schematic. But since I didn't see it in the schematic or on the car I thought it didn't apply to my model. So it looks like the obvious solution is to install the belt last, using the replace serpentine...

As a rule of thumb with Fords.... if it has a timing belt, it is usually none interference... if it has timing chains, it is usually an interference engine...
