Thanks for your answer Jenna, I guess anyone wanting a puppy from a reputable breeder is going to have to do studying and waiting. good luck finding your puppy.

Jenna, largely I agree with what you have said. But when you say, "A puppy from awesome parents is a puppy from awesome parents, no matter the kennel name", while that is true, I also don't want my $$ going towards a person I don't agree with. BYBs sometimes manage to get a pair from good breeders.. good breeders no matter how careful always may make a mistake. That doesn't mean that I'm ok to support anyone like...

I think a urine check wouldn't be unwarranted once the holiday is over. As Jess mentioned, it could be a kidney or urinary tract issue. However, Tanuk has also always been obsessed with water, and I've noticed him really going at it lately too. Like your husband, mine assumes I just got used to it and then it kinda popped back into my notice. Go figure, silly boys. P.S. I do believe I've heard that increased protein causes...

That is why I do titers on my dogs after they receive their adult shots. But in the 20+ years I have worked for a vet we have never seen a vaccine induced sarcoma on either a dog or cat.

I have to disagree with Jessica. Don't stop giving him the medication. Toes by their very location are subject to being infected. A course of antibiotics to keep that from happening is a good idea.

it started with a white lump over dandy's eye. after a couple days, i noticed he'd rubbed the fur off around his eye and the sclera was very red. i thought that was odd but didn't think anything of it since there's not a lot to be done for styes except wait them out and keep the area clean (which he was doing). a couple days later, however, i woke up to find his eyes red and puffy and crusted with big, green oozy yuck and...

"IF dandy turns out to be just a cool - but basically ordinary - dog" I'll tell you this now, so you can save some time... Dandy isn't super dog, He can't fly, shoot lasers out of his eyes, and he's not going to save you if your house is on fire. There he is your cool - but basically ordinary - DOG. He's a mix - a mutt - He's cute, yeah! BEING CUTE ISN'T A REASON TO BREED YOUR DOG!! Chloe's...

It's not your fault. The makers of e fences are at fault imho. They are not safe. I don't know if efences come with warnings. But one warning on an efence should be "NEVER LEAVE DOG UNSUPERVISED EVEN WITH THIS WORKING". They are not 100% effective even if the battery is working full, but most people buy the efence and don't realize that. So I don't think it's your fault. I'm glad you were with...

Some reputable breeders pups are gone before they are born but not all. Mostly because most good breeders dont breed alot. They put alot of thought into who to breed to who, etc. SO people may have talked to the breeder at a show or found their website and inquired about pups. Meanwhile there are no pups yet. So they put them on a list for next litter which is how the waiting list gets into ...

Brodie - I don't know what other issues you might be having, but my Darcy is also a HUGE water hog. She will sit and drink water for what seems like a minute straight when I first come home, and again when we come in from outside. I don't know how much of it comes from being a bulldog and getting tired/thirsty easily, or in our case, its because we eat EVO and Orijen, so the high protein makes ...

Hello, I sympathise completely with your situation as our 3 year old Kelpie Banjo was also diagnosed with this condition. This week we had to make the horrible decision to have him euthanised. I still feel a great deal of regret over it, but I have to keep reminding myself that it was done with his best interests at heart. Unfortunately, Banjo began to worsen significantly and ...

You've struggled so long with allergies Hudson you have such a good Mommy. Can Hudson handle multivitamins? I would suggest one with this plan if he can tolerate them. Or ground egg shell or bone powder for calcium, and liver and kidneys for vitamins. I hope it works.

Wait what?? If you don't think you can afford a puppy or dog long term, Sawyer should be rehomed while he's still young and may have a chance to be....NOT put to sleep for just diarrhea and being an active lab/heeler puppy! They cost money, my mom thinks dogs cost more money now than ever, maybe due to bad breeding and puppymills or just that there IS better vet care available now.

Last night Sebastian started throwing up massive amounts of blood and had blood coming out of his nose. So I brought him down to see my dad one emergency after taking Rob to work (we only have 1 car right now). He has a very low HCT and is bleeding internally. His symptoms are of Decon Poisoning, we DO NOT use decon in my house, never have, never will. We are/were puzzled as to where he ...

It is basically similar to getting a shot however the needle is slightly larger than the regular shot needles. It is a good idea, we have a client who got her dog back (my name sake) after 4 years being missing due to a microchip. Animal Control called to confirm the owners information and we had an alert that she was missing so I told them, turns out the 'owners' were not her 'owners' just ...

Everything is linked to cancer. If you give a lab rat enough of anything, they will develop a form of cancer. Not vaccinating is almost guaranteed to lead to distemper, parvo, etc....; vaccinating has a very small chance of potentially causing cancer. Unless there is an underlying medical condition making it dangerous to vaccinate, it's much safer to vaccinate.

Really only you can make that decision, you know your dog best, but maybe you can talk to your vet also & see what he/she thinks. What do you think the pets quality of life is? I say quality over quantity. I hope that things get better, good luck with your decision. to you & your family.

We've never gotten the dogs' teeth cleaned, not even our 12 year old. They've all been tolerant of teethbrushing and raw helps them out a whole lot. As for anesthesia.. well, I suppose if your bloodwork comes back clean, you could be put under every year or so.. Lilith was put under 4 times within 2 months just recently for surgery.. not something I would suggest but that's just an extreme ...
