I would love to see how they correlate being named Rufus/Mr. Wobblems or whatever with a breed, too!

Interesting ... I have never even considered a hound to be honest. Is there any particular kind? It seems like there is a really wide variety out there and different types of hounds vary from one another quite a bit. I have looked at bloodhounds just for fun before because there is something very interesting about them to me, they are just so unique! Wow, I really am surprised that I have never considered a hound because I have considered many...

for my grandparents. My grandparents have my old dog, he is part bird dog, & he is the guardian of their house & their building with all of their expensive farm equipment. He is getting really old & cant really protect & guard things like he used too. They got an australian cattledog & wanted him to protect, but I told them he wouldnt & he didnt. I am helping them rehome that dog through the rescue I volunteer with...

How old are your grandparents? Will the dog live outside or in? Do they realize the responsibility of having a protection dog ? Do they want one that will attack or just bark a warning? I realize this is a lot of questions, but the answers make a difference in what they should be looking for. For example, my friend bought a Rotteweiler as a guard dog. He doesnt bark and loves everybody. I , on...

I wrote this a long time ago about Labradors and feel if you were considering a lab, it might be beneficial to you.

**This is false every lab regardless of color has their own way of doing things and it's not based on color. A lot of people say the chocolate labs are dumb but I?ll tell you I have ...

Mixed breed definatly. I know people say that alot but I'm kinda thinking of something that has Lab mixed with a medium sized dog. Labs are energetic and they can be calm IF they get enough excerise. At least that's how all the ones I've had were. Good Luck and thanks for rescuing!

" Pit bulls" are currently banned or severely restricted in Ontario. I'm not very familiar with the specifics as I'm not in Canada, but this may help:

I am very very proud of you for finding a great home for Foxey. That took a very great & understanding person to do that, you are very unselfish.
Hugs for you& for Foxey

I would say the wheaten, the lab, the bernese mountain dog, & the mastiff would be okay together, then all of the smaller ones together.
Good question Tally

One of the many terrier mixes. They are great small dogs for active people who like spending time outside and have time to train them properly.
Also they typically have short or wire coats which are not much to groom. Wire coats don't shed much.

This is my new foster! Well hopefully, I'm being homechecked tomorrow, but I'm already checked for cats so hopefully no issues!
I thought it was a JRT cross, but not so sure, the body shape is all wrong. The pound has her down as 'terrier cross'.
Any ideas?

I think you are confusing "Backyard Breeder" and Hobby Breeder. When being done properly (health testing, carefully planned litters, "proving" the parents in some way, etc), breeding is just that -- a very expensive hobby. "Backyard Breeders" are usually those who just throw Floofy and Fluffy together to "show the miracle of birth" or because "they're so cyyuuuuuteee!!!" or with the sole ...

I agree with you milton, not all small dogs are ankle biters. I have 2 small dogs, & although one of them still has a little bit of trust issues to strangers she never bites & warms up to people very quickly, Gizmo looooooooves everyone .
I love my little dogs & I think its awful when any dog, big or small, gets a bad rap. Of course I also have my big pitty boy & everyone thinks its a very ...

When Tinker was a puppy, she was a holy terror and my husband and I were having a hard time keeping her entained and happy. We really got Petey for Tinker when she was 9 mo. Petey was 3 mo., almost 4 mo. They got along famously and Tinker was much much happier. I think they both enjoyed being puppies together, but it made training a little more difficult. If Tinker had not been such a ...
