Possible Ringworm...What Can I...

Thanks stormyknight, that makes me feel better. :) Just as an update to the thread, we went to see the vet yesterday and still don't really know for sure what it is. The vet didn't seem too concerned and said that the spot on the nose didn't necessarily look like ringworm and was more likely something like a staph or bacterial infection, or both. (At least, I think that's...

I'm basically a newbie cat owner too, but here's my philosophy (and many would disagree). If its an indoor cat, I wouldn't bother to vaccinate. Indoor/Outdoor cats get the shots that the vet recommends. I think that includes rabies, feline leukemia, distemper. My cat is indoor/outdoor so he is vaccinated. He also gets heartworm and flea control.

I would vaccinate even if they are indoor cats only because you never know when they will be out, accidents happen and I would rather be safe than sorry but that is just me. Kiddles was given the Vaccination Schedule recommended by the vet.

rabies is a must regardless of living status. All it takes is one bat to come into your house and if you don't have proof of rabies vaccines not only is your cat going into quarantine but you are getting the rabies series. Happened to a friend of mine - one of her cats was only a few months behind in his rabies vaccines. She woke up one night to find a dead bat on her bedroom floor. She didn't know what killed it so it was assumed...

One of my cats has a spot bridging his nose, basically from eye to eye, where he appears to have lost some fur, and also even looks a little bit scabby. It has been there for about a week, maybe slightly longer, because I didn't pay much attention to it at first, unfortunately. Then yesterday, I noticed that one of the other cats has what looks like a small circle of hair loss at the base of ...

As Jewlieee says, you should also ask the vet about some meds and maybe Bach florals. My cat has Rescue from time to time and it helps a lot!!

Pi's going in for his neuter tomorrow morning! I'm looking forward to it (yay for no more unneutered cat pee smells!) and hopefully an end to peeing on the chair in my office, too. He's getting the works: neutering, urine culture (just in case the peeing is a UTI), microchip, and rabies vax! The whole neuter should take about 5 minutes with our vet which is pretty cool mo. Assuming all ...

Hi Guys,,,I dont' have a cat but my friend Jessika wrote to me yesterday, thought I would present this here if anyone has any ideas. We have a midget cat that has hyperthyroidism and has been having seizures if the meds. are the slightest bit off. We have her on stool softener, compounded pheno. meds, lactulose. The poor cat is six months old and only 2.5 lbs, she keep having to have ...

Sawney a 7 year old bluepoint Siamese and Scooter a 7 year old lynxpoint Siamese. Not related but both obtained by a breeder in Pa. These poor girls had a really bizarre neurotic owner. Senior citizen who is moving and can't take them. Sawney was the spoiled kitty while Scooter was just there. Both cats are 4-paw declawed and when Scooter was 2 owner wanted her teeth pulled for chewing ...

This is something that makes me think a lot and I just can't decide my mind... My vet told me when we got Luke that dry food is the best for cats. He said: "dry kibble is way better than canned food, because of the water intake cats need. If cats eat dry, they will need to drink water, which is good for them and their kidneys... with canned food, the cats will have a little moisture and they...

My cat Milo earned the nicknames Satan, Hitler and Evil Milo for those very reasons. He drove us all nuts when he was younger. I read up on "gentling" a cat and did get him used to being held. In fact, now when he's on a tirade, holding him is one of the few things that settles him down. I tried the water bottle to no avail. What did work was scruffing him and hissing at him like a momma ...
