Thank you We can't start until this weekend (whenever the meds come) but I am looking forward to a non-itchy dog! I really hope that it helps him.

That is VERY cool! Could spend all day watching the motion capture stuff... I do wish though that they had a less HAPPY terrier mix to show the dysplastic gait in the film portion..I was very distracted by her playful demeanor (lovely to see but hard to pay attention to what I was trying to pay attention to!)

She seems to be feeling a lot better. I'm having to stop her from doing things already. Funny thing though, after yelping a couple of times last weekend trying to jump on the sofa, she hasn't even tried it since. Hasn't even looked like she wanted to and I'm wondering if she ever will again if I don't encourage it.

Fleas??? Please Help!
Published (2009-11-24 10:41:00)
I have a horrible memory from childhood - we had dogs and one cat that came in and out of the house. I went on vacation with relatives and came back after a couple of weeks. I opened the door to my room and had a full blown flea infestation. They were everywhere! Getting RID of them was horrible!! Since then, I really watch my dogs CLOSELY!

Lyme...no "S". The bruise does NOT mean he has Lyme Disease. Watch for intermittent stiffness/lameness/loss of appetite/intermittent fever/diarhea.

Another update.. Maggie has decided her stitches itch.. she was trying to scratch them a little bit on Monday with her back feet.. But I was around the whole day so I was able to stop her.. but her tummy looked a little red, so I got worried that maybe it was infected and called the vet, they didn't seem very concerned when I described it and said they didn't have any openings until Tuesday in the afternoon.. so I made an...

Ivomec Dosage for Mange I was going to buy "Ivomec 1 % Solution - 50 ml" from kvvets.com that's selling for under 40 dollars to treat my dogs mange.
My dog was treated for manage a month or so ago and cleared up and now seems to have a relapse and now it's more of a localized red mange compared to generalized before.
My last vet was just giving her the ivomec shots every ...

Good that you are taking him to a vet. What is his capillary refill time? (Press a finger against his gum, then remove and count how many seconds it takes to turn pink again.) Should be about 2 seconds.
Pale gums can indicate many things. Anemia, shock, Leukemia, internal bleeding to name a few.
Please update us after the vet visit.

That is very interesting to watch. Susie has something that is bothering her and maybe I have been looking at the wrong end. It does seem to be in her shoulders as she has a rolling gait watching her from the front. The Vet could not find anything wrong but at the last Agility trial I had her in, she started out fine but after a couple of jumps just completely quit on me, something she has ...

Um stupid question but have you noticed if that is the side your dog tends to sleep on the most??? It does happen in my dogs too but again like us they tend to favor sleeping on one side or the other... that's the story with my guys.

Yeah, that actually sounds like something that could be serious, then again it could be nothing... If Donatello did something like that and didn't bounce back, I'd take him to the vet almost immediately. It's better not to take a chance with something like that.
Donatello banged his spine on the bottom edge of a coffee-table one time because he tried jumping up on the sofa, but didn't think...

So sorry to hear about her accident! Without seeing an x-ray & physical exam it's hard to say. The popping sound and her lifting her leg would indicate something isn't right. Have you considered putting her on a therapeutic dosage of glucosamine and chondroitin? It's a mixed bag when it comes to all the studies out there but a lot a dog owners swear by it.

Pet insurance.. So, I have a service dog in training that is costing me bodily limbs in vet bills as he explores the world. Last night was a handful of pistachios, and in the time it took me to get my shoes he had stolen a steak from the counter, much to my dad's chagrin. ( We decided at the vet's office he wasn't 'dumb' for eating pistachios, but refined for eating pistachios and ...

Its probably going to take a couple days before you really start to see her personality again. She basically just had major surgery. No different than us needing recovery time. You certainly dont want her to feel invincible or she would take off and risk her stitches popping! Baby her while you can, pretty soon you will be worrying about how active she is.

There are many drugs out there that are hard on the liver...almost all non antibiotic medications, including NSAIDS are processed through that organ and it can be hard on it. That being said, short term use, providing his liver is normal NOW, should not have long term effects on the liver and the liver CAN recover in most cases. Prednisone can be just as hard on the system if not harder so I ...

Sounds like your pup might be experiencing a penile stricture. Go get some baby oil... lube his penis up, roll the tip of the sheath back and it should slide back in.

Those are round worms. Heart worms don't pass through the stool.
Get some dewormer from the grocery store or Petsmart.
BTW if she was on Heartguard, she wouldn't get them. If she is not on HW prevention, please put her on it ASAP.

it would help to know what foods you have tried. many times, foods that aren't "limited ingredient" can cause problems. it could very well be an allergy to something specific that might be found in a variety of foods.
i found, after MUCH trial and error, that my great dane girls cannot have anything that even resembles chicken. if they eat chicken, they both get explosive diarrhea. i ...

Cracker is on clomipramine (clomicalm) for her SA and generalized anxiety. I did behaviour mod first for months and had success, then a change in her home environment sent her back into a spin. This is when her anxiety started to generalize. The turning point for me was when after another attempt at desens. she started to vomit and lose weight. I could SEE her spine. I took her to the vet, had ...
