Tough call on that one Ali. Here, the shot is a two parter. I know one lady that owns a doggie day care and she will only take dogs that have completed both shots. It is usually passed around in day cares or dog parks where there are mutliple dogs drinking from the same water.

If she were my dog I would leave the tumor alone do the best I could to manage with diet and other holistic treatments. But above all I would just live it up with her and enjoy every day I had left with her.

Bella is home now. She's pretty groggy still, and not at all protesting to the crate rest. Everything went well. Her incision is about an inch and a half long, and looks great. A little red, but thats to be expected. Im sure by tomorrow she will be bouncing again... Thanks for the positive vibes everyone.

I would recommend doing a "MET" check -- the radiographs of the chest. Check to see if cancer has spread to the lungs. If so, then you don't pursue surgery or treatment of any kind. Then, if the lungs are clear. I'd have it removed. As for submitting the mass for histopathology.. it's really a matter of how curious you are and how indispensable funds are. If you have extra cash, don't mind spending it.....

Theodore was nutered back in June, swelling and some redness is normal, if the area where the incision is seems to be leaking or ozzing then I would call your vet. or if swelling gets worse. Keep him as quiet as possible and dont' get it wet!

Well she's come round from the anasthetic so I'm just waiting to hear when I can pick her up. Apparently they can find nothing wrong with her joints from the x-rays. They asked for my permission to send them off to a specialist to see if they could see anything that my vets might have missed. So they'll be sent off today and we should hear back by the end of the week. So if it's not her joints, what is it? I mentioned about...

Could be the water!
I don't know about where you are, but here I take a sample of my horse's water to the hospital once a week to get tested to make sure it's ok. They do it for free, at their lab!

Follow your vet's advice. If you feel they are not correct, a second vet opinion would be best. People on the internet haven't seen your dog nor are they a substitute for proper vet care.

I dont know what I would do in that position.
Is there the option of removing it, testing it to see how aggressive it is, and then trying some form of radiation to try and tackle anything remaining?
I dont know if I would have the will power to just leave it, wondering day to day if it was killing her more and more. Sorry I cant be of more help.

A number of things you can try. Im going through the same things though.
You can try increasing his food intake. Also can try just increasing his fat intake. Protein will help as well. When I was feeding kibble, I never fed anything less then 35% protein because I have a very active dog.
Another thing, up his exercise. I know it sounds funny, but it will help to build more ...

A lameness prolonged for that amount of time sounds like a genetic issue to me. Elbows are big in labs as well, but there are some many aliments that can arise in larger breeds it could be a number of things.
Should NOT be bred. But I think YOU know this already. Hopefully you can sway your friend, or there is a good chance a lot of puppies in the future will be lame as well.

Firstly you may want to have your user name changed as Mr. Millan may have a copy write on his name.
Welcome to the site. I would take a stool sample to the vet so they can tell you what if any worms or what else is going on and what meds may be needed.

I would call the 800# on the product and ask them. I wouldn't but I try not to use topical flea stuff on any of my dogs. In the mean time you can go over her with a flea comb, keep a cup of oil, flea spray or alcohol near by to stick the comb in each time you run it thru the dogs coat.
Good luck
