I honestly hope that I will see results that will make all of this worthwhile for my dog but her issue is no longer her hip. Right now the success rate of THR for dysplasic dogs is reported as being between 90-95% and my dog's THR functionality falls well within that range. The data on stem cell therapy for hip dysplasia is just too sparse to make a similar claim of success and/or to pursue that as the only option at this point. Many...

Will hair grow back?

If you have access to CORONA a heavy yellow dense antiseptic cream it will work, I used it on my show horses and kept a couple cans. It is a yellow cream in a can type of container of yellow and red color. It can be bought at feed stores, tack shops and hair does come back using. I have used it on sore pads as we have limestone all over our drive that is a long one, it heals quickly on the pads of dogs even soaks into them to heal. A photo of...

I've been hearing a lot lately about stem cells here in Aust. Sounds like the way to go.

There will be good and there will be bad online vets so be careful. So a diagnosis has been made I think though if your main vet is too busy I would be asking questions to my self and maybe it's time to change to another vet. And as after thought maybe through research there may be alternative medicines such as herbal or homepathic that may make his many good moments increase m aking the bad moments even less. Good luck Caroline

Our dog has been diagnosed with this disease, and there seems to be no question about it. There are two vets at the clinic, and after a couple different visits within a couple months, both determined he has bronchiectasis. I'd like to change vets, because the one we usually see just is too busy. I appreciated the visit with the new vet there - she took plenty of time and also diagnosed the same condition. He has more good moments than the...

Lab shepard mix and cancer
Published (2009-11-22 20:05:00)
My yellow mix is 12 1/2 years old. My vet thinks she has bone cancer in her hind leg. She is now on pain meds (Rymadil). I want her last days to be of good quality. How long should she live without suffering ? I do not want to go to extreme treatments like amputation or chemo. I welcome all information that is realistic and reasonable.

Oh dear, as far as I know, dog hair does grow back, but it takes much much longer than for humans. Sophia and Zircon had a run-in way back over a toy, and Zircon has a spot to this day on his nose to show for it.
I hope someone else can give you a more encouraging answer!

Hello dcsam and welcome to the forum.
Firstly, I'm sorry to hear of the problems your dog is having. I'm by no means an expert on Bronchiectasis, but I found this site helpful;

If it's been going on a long time I would take her to the vet for a check-up & take a sample of the vomitus with you.

Hi Oh my I'm so sorry! You must be feeling really torn up.
Unfortunately I am unclear on how long she should live without suffering BUT, if it was my dog, I would probably let them go so that they suffer no more pain. We had to do this with Barney back in 2003 because he had eaten poison which some immature mongrel had thrown over the fence to him.

I hope that I am worrying over nothing here.
Yesterday, Simba whimpered all night long and cried, we let her out twice but she continued and Mr Mel thought she was just being noisy and told her to be quiet so we could sleep.
Poor girl was trying to tell us that she was ill, I woke up to find diaorrhea everywhere...

There are a number of doggy illnesses much like the human colds and flus that pass around. They tend to show up near shifts in weather patterns. This is rather common. Nothing to worry about unless the symptoms are severe and persist. Same as in us humans.

The coughing wouldn't bother me as much as the froth. This is a new one for
me I'm afraid. Is it possible to call your vet and ask what he/she thinks?
