06 Exhaust question
Published (2009-11-11 18:43:00)
aluminized from thier site; FBD exhausts are turbo back systems made with 16-gauge aluminized steel piping. The system has undergone the mandrel bending process to eliminate air flow resistance and maintain a consistent inside diameter. Get the results you demand for the price you want with the FBD Budget Exhaust Kit! FBD exhaust tips are constructed of polished 304 stainless steel to ensure long life and an excellent appearance. Control the bounce and dive without making the ride harsh, yes. Nothing but an air ride system will make these trucks float over the washboard. I noticed an improvement with the Bilsteins, but not a magic bullet to make it ride like a 1500. I get some up and down bounce in the rear when towing my 20' trailer, but I don't think it's from the shocks. I think it's caused by the spring tension of the equalizer hitch. I've...

Certifit body parts any good?...
Published (2009-11-11 09:17:00)
Too good to be true prices and they don't stock parts for an F150 . At least not front bumpers. Seems to me there's a prety good market for front bumper covers on the best selling 1/2 ton truck! I've used certi fit parts before. Fine for their cost, but sometimes require some work to get a good fit up. Tailgate is one thing I wouldn't get a CHinese re-pop of though, unless you never use it. My work truck got a new cheap...

If you are going to do the front bumper, I'd suggest Rhino Lining the rear bumper as well. It will protect it from dents a bit and really tie in the whole two-tone look. Going all the way around is what I intend to do on my '08, though I have yet to decide on black or color matched Mineral Gray. Im leaning towards color matched on my particular truck, just to keep the urge to buy black wheels from taking hold of my credit card.

Another thing that can be addressed is with the weak voltage system to the headlights. Daniel Stern Lighting has a kit for the 9007 that upgrades the system to run straight off of the battery so there is mininum voltage loss. Everything is included in the kit except the wiring for about $59. Kit is plug and play, no splicing needed, except for maybe adding load resistors to the relays so the TIPM won't trip the lights out indicator. MikeyB

Sorry I do not know about the Mopar gauges .
Pros and cons of electrical and mechanical gauges to start with are:
Pros-
Mechanical: actual pressure, temp, boost, ect. of what you are monitoring
Electrical: easy to wire in and install just about anywhere just by routing some wire to the gauge.
Cons-
Mechanical: if reading pressure requires running liquid(fuel, oil, ect) to...

In theory it isnt difficult, however in practice those bearings tend to rust themselves to the hub. People get creative trying to remove them. You can get a puller, but sometimes the bearings pull apart. Some guys back off the bolts and use the power steering as a press with a rod or extension to push on the head of the bolts, pushing the bearing assembly out.
Regardless there will be ...

People like to steal stuff, mine was stolen off my 01 when I had just
bought it, but it was a tailgate, tailgate. Some dude needed it more than I
did I guess. It was at a horse show in Gainesville, tx. Makes me angry but
if I ever catch anybody trying something funny on her they gonna be in for
it!

Check your local area for a truck utility body installer.
He'd probably have several he'd like to have gone.
There's also one for sale in our classified section.......

It's pretty simple really. Hopefully someone will chime in with exact instructions, but as I recall you remove the center bezel trim, and there are a couple of screws holding the radio in. It only took me about 5 minutes tops to get the radio out of the '05. Enjoy your new unit!

NOTE: Upper shock nut must be replaced or use
Mopar Lock N Seal or LoctiteT 242 on existing nut.

Nothing special required. Just make sure you get the correct length pipes. I would recomend stainless steel stepped band clamps to tie it all together instead of using regular u-clamps.

Check the fuses under the hood. If you have a plain old lighted circuit
tester you can do it without pulling the fuses.

Mine is a daily driver. My truck gets 20-21 mpg hand calculated on highway. That is driving reasonably no WOT takeoffs and running on highway between 65 & 70 MPH, using cruse control most of the time. In 50-50 mix highway/city driving I get 16-17 mpg. That is better than the wife's Hemi Durango which gets about 14-15 mpg hand calculated in 50-50 mix city/highway driving. I have no tool box or ...

If you have a Hankook dealer you may want to take a look at the RF10's; I
love mine; as far as considering the D rated tire, you will be better off
stayin in the E class

The first thing I would do it get gauges. Edge Products has the Insight which has 4 gauges on the display at any one time. If you are looking for a programmer, the Juice w/ Attitude will also display up to 4 at a time. Edge Products also has 0-60 and 1/4 miles performance tests.
At least get a gauge that will show your EGTs. This will save your turbo from premature failure due to high temps.

On my 07, I was able to reprogram the seat beat warning to just light up instead of ding every few minutes. There is a procedure in the owners manual under "Enhanced Warning System" (BeltAlert).
Try this:
1. Doors closed and seat belt buckled.
2. Turn engine on.
3. After seat belt light turns off, unbuckle and buckle the seat belt at least 3 times within 10 seconds
4. Turn engine off...

285's look kinda small on a leveled truck, if you get 35's you might want to put ½" longer control arms in.
I have 2" spacers, my 35's come VERY close to my fenders and rubed on my mudflaps, had to trim my flares cuz they were rubing when I turned.
35's on stock wheels will clear the fenders better bu rub your control arms.
Maybe the 305's or 295/75's or something would be a good ...
