how to Select a Camshaft?
Published (2009-11-14 15:33:00)
Hey guys I got another question. If you want to change your camshaft, how do you select the right one. Take a look at Peak Diesel, http://www.peakdieselperformance.com/camshafts.html . I believe you can gain torque and lower EGTs with a aftermarket Camshaft. Please post your opinions

Isn't the purpose of an intercooler to help to cool the charge air. It seems to me that if the air was cooler entering the intercooler that would be a good thing no... 1 doesn't replace the other. Topper

Smarty jr 100 vs SR 90?
Published (2009-11-13 13:24:00)
Either would have about the same effect. The "safeness" of the tune is going to depend entirely on how you set up the Revo (don't plug in wild torque management for instance) and how you drive it. You set up smarty jr #3 and go out and drive foolishly and you will tear up your tranny or you can load up smarty sr #9 (I am not recommending you do that, just making a point) and drive conservatively and never have an issue....

I run synth in everything but the motor. I like Valvoline products. ATF+4 for the Tranny, T-Case, and power steering, DOT 4 Synth brake fluid, 75w90 synth gear oil for front and rear diffs. For motor oil I like running conventional. I use Rotella T. I just put Mobile Delvac in this change because they had a great deal on it. We change the oil often enough that you shouldn't need synth unless your doing sled pulls or something to really...

Anything you put in will make less noise than a straight pipe. If you want to take the edge off, a resonator will do that. A muffler like a Hushpower or Donaldson will be quieter still. You can run both if you want even less noise.

I'm using it on a bone stock truck. You can really feel the differance when you change the settings. I use it mostly on the economy settings, with the POD turned down to about 60. That gives me 13-14mg around town, and 18-19 on the highway at 75-80mph. Country back roads where speeds are lower will get me 22mpg. I also turn the power down to try and increase longevity of other ...

Yes they can do head studs without replacing the gasket. If you want to save on labor I would put a set of springs in along with the studs and injectors. The injector has to come all the way out to do the springs. Might as well while they are in there!

That's a tough one as both are important in monitoring performance of your vehicle....and if you're not hitting optimal rp or boost, you're not getting your $'s worth for perf mods out of the truck...not sure how much pressure the BD can build or how agressive it is...but if it's a heavy pressure runner you could be draining the rail and not knowing it...especially w/ out fuel pump....on the flip...
