Red, GEt your self some Fleetgaurds or Baldwins and you don't have to bother wioth that. Use the fluted "wrench" that attaches to a 3/8 drive and spin her off. Plus your offering better protection then those crappy filters.

It's not a hard task to replace a belt, it's just time consuming and bothersome because the hardest thing will be getting the new belt around the fan. Here's a write up that should be of help: http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/d...t-t183515.html Also, take note on the diagram of where the water pump pulley is, that'll give you an idea of where to look for that. Anytime, glad I could be of help.

its supposed to keep the drivetrain vibration down on shut off along with drivetrain noise for all the soccer moms and others who think a truck should be quiet like a station wagon. the springs go out using the truck for what its designed for. towing, its a big pos you dont want it

Bad Gear Oil Like Smell Coming...
Published (2009-11-24 11:00:00)
If it's gear oil, you'll know it. Way more pungent than ATF or engine oil. Only do it after you run/tow hard with the truck? Had an 01 that the rear axle would get so hot towing that it would burn the gear oil and melt the speedo sensor off the top of the pumpkin. Went thru 3 complete axle replacements, bad setups I guess. Cehck how hot your rear diff is when it smells bad.

What does it shift like when you give it at least 3/4 throttle? Light throttle shifting is hard to tell because it is much more influenced by the gov solenoid and they are crappy. Use moderate to heavy throttle to determine if you need a band adjustment not light throttle.

If I understand correctly most of the noise that is associated with a diesel engine is from the injectors. I have been using 16 oz per fill up for the last couple of months. I remember the noise level being reduced some as well. From what I have read it won't hurt and I think I am getting better fuel mileage with the 2 stroke oil in the winter blend fuel. You need to get approx 1/4 to 1/2 ...

I think you are at the wrong site if you want people to tell you to get rid of your diesel. I have owned diesels off and on for the last 25 years, last year after returning from Germany I needed a truck and there were GREAT deals on new trucks so I bought a loaded 2008 Laramie Hemi, one of the reasons I didnt go with a diesel was that at the time D2 was 40c more than gas and I didnt want a 6.7 ...

i wouldn't call it an adjustment but there is a bit of play in how it slides over the shaft, outside of the transmission there, i had the same problem, if you loosen it off and maybe hold pressure on it, in the way it needs to go while you tighten it, you should be good. if not, let us know. or maybe your neutral safety switch is acting up? its the square lil electronic box deal right ...

Make sure your drain pan is large enough to hold at least 12 qts. of oil! Don't even ask how I know . Get a fluted filter wrench for your oil filter. Cut the bottom out of a large plastic soft drink bottle. After you loosen your oil filter a little put the bottle over the filter and continue to take the filter off. All the excessive oil will drain into the bottle and not down your arm. ...

Does the Jacobs come with a spare vacuum pump? If you do a search you will see a lot of members have had the Jacobs pumps fail? I vote spend a little more on the Pac now.

Fleetguard Stratapore. It is convienently sold across the street at the Cummins store. It also seems to be one of the best filters out there judging by the specs on paper and how they look inside when I cut them open after oil changes.

Lift pump is covered for 5 years/100,000 miles under the Cummins emission warranty. Look at your build date on your door sticker. Regardless of the build date, I'd still place a follow-up call. They may do it as a "good will" gesture.
