trans oil cooler

I live in northern michigan so I think the warming affect would be nice in the winter. If noone jumps in and tells me to stay away from a junkyard cooler I think thats the rout I'll go.

Trans problems... round 4!

If your a gasser, don't call Goerands, they only deal with diesels. If you are running stock, then I would look around for a good reputable independently owned and operated trans shop (Stay away from the BIG chain rebuilders) and have them take a look at it. When you start combining delayed going into drive and very harsh when it does, it normally is not a good outcome. As far as what you saw in the pan, that is just normal clutch dust....

You only HAVE to do the 60lb springs on the exhaust side for an exhaust brake. I've seen several with just the exhaust side upgrade, just to cut costs, I imagine. Pull the #1 valve cover. If the intake and exhaust springs look physically different, then only the exhaust side is upgraded.

Thanks for the part # GAmes!!! 1-5-3-6-2-4, I'll let my brother-in-law know that if he wants the kit, you guys can help. I'll see him tomorrow. I'll pm you with his answer, but, it won't be until pretty late tomorrow...my other brother-in-law needs me to go get a pipe unclogged at a rental of his. So, don't think there's any kind of rush on this. The injection pump is still off the truck...it's not going...

Ah, thanks for the info. I've always wondered that. I got the smallest filter with 4 units of DCA2. The filter is heating up right now so I assume there is coolant flowing through it, but I'm not sure how much. I don't know if the heater core (brand new) offers enough restriction to force coolant thru the 90 degree T to the filter. I might just take the filter out later on down the road, but I figure I'd let it clean up the...

Are you sure it went to 4500rpm? the tacks on these things only go to 4000rpm, and you would be pretty hard pressed to get it up there in a stock truck.

I'll be watching this one, I'm concerned about the 5,500 vs 8,800 cfm of the flex vs the stock fan. Good luck in your travels, please let us know if they make any difference in power or fuel economy...

I don't know about the pump never had to do one. The wheel bearings are a
piece of cake as long as the inner race isn't seized to the stub axle.

Yes it can cause that. If the pcm sees 0 RPM it shuts off the ASD relay. Pull that connector apart again and, using a small pick, bend in the walls of the female terminals slightly, so they will grip the pins tighter. Try that for a while, it may be all thats needed.

Just bought this kit on ebay( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge... c48). Getting parts directly from cummins at the local truck yard is becoming a wallet drainer.Yanked my timing cover and decided to change out the crank seal as well as the gasket two days ago. Cost me almost $52 out the door.Saw it for $20 on ebay. What the heck.

You should be able to crank and fire easily where you live. I'm just a few hours south of you and have had to wait one time for grid heater to do it's thing before engine would fire and the temps were down in the upper teens that morning. I've never plugged either of mine in. If you do have problems with starting, take your hair dryer and shove it down intake pipe to heat air. Be VERY careful...

Torque cold to specs, let sit overnight. Loosen one at a time and retorque with lube. Do all over again a second time. The next day (3rd day since first torque) drive the truck and get it hot and do a hot retorque to specs. Don't ever, ever get on the pedal until the truck is up to operating temp (160 deg +).

Thermostat Bypass hose
Used to bleed air past the thermostat when closed. Also allows slight coolant flow when thermostat is closed.
I guess you could put a filter there. Coolant would flow when the thermostat is closed and that should be good enough. The filter does not do much anyway. However it does have coolant treatment in it and that should still protect the engine just as good...

I went to Cummins , but it seems they sell a cooler temp [ about 165*F ] than what was in it before [ 180* ] .
So I would ask what temps are avalable and get the 180* .

If you do ANY power mods at all and tow that kind of weight, $1000 or less is very tough. I checked into rebuilding mine and upgrading all needed parts and decided I was better off to just order a complete trans, so that is what I did. I tow a similar weight trailer in the mountains and have only added a #10 fuel plate in stock position and my trans gave up on me in less than 1500 miles. Prior...

with your plate and injectors, that HX is probably way to small, and with
the wastegate capped, you are really choking that thing out, especially at
higher rpm's, and a steady 1300 on the egt's will heat the coolant up
rather fast, i would start with a better turbo, or maby hook your wastgate
back up and get a boost elbow...

According to Rockauto, they take the same part number, so they should
interchange.
