Shallow well dimension ?
Published (2008-11-18 14:04:00)
There is not really a rule of thumb. It just depends on how much water the well will make. That is generally what determines the amount of pipe that goes in to a well. With out knowing the draw down of the well. I would put it about 2 or 3 feet from the bottom. How deep is the pump set now? If it has been working ok. Just go back with the same amount of pipe that came out. Travis

submersible shaft septic aerator?
Published (2008-11-18 20:23:00)
There is a type of aerator that are made to be submerged. It runs 24/7 underwater. I think it is called a multi flo system. The aerator they use, runs under water. I have seen a few. They seem to work pretty good. It should work fine in you tank. It does depend on the size of your tank, on how many you would need to create the right amount of air vs, the amount of wast water that is placed into it. That way, it can work as it was designed.

Is there a check valve between the city side and your pump? If there is and it is bad then your pressure could be bleeding off to the city system causing the pump to run a lot.

Sewage sump pump problem
Published (2008-11-14 06:52:00)
A couple of things to check. One is to make sure the checkvalve, usually located right above the pump, is clear and functioning properly. Sewage pumps don't generally built alot of pressure, so things can plug up. Another is to be sure that there is a small hole (usually about 3/16") in the pipe between the pump discharge and the checkvalve. This hole is to let air escape, as sump/sewage type pumps can become airlocked. If the pump...

2" well need to add drop pipe
Published (2008-11-13 12:24:00)
Ok... I new I should have given more information. The home is for sale as commercial, whoever buys it will be tearing it down to build a commercial building on it. So by putting 5K into a new well would be throwing money away. The pump is in my basement and is only 6 months old, has been working fine up till the last week, when I had a problem with my pressure switch sticking, so I fixed that and now I can't get it to prime. It's a...

If you must have water to drill properly, you might want to just run a hose constantly around the pipe, because you won't be able to fill that hole up unless you hit another layer of clay. The object is to go down to a level where you have enough water in the sand to cover the screen. That might be 5 feet more or 30. Hard to say. If the level stays above 25 feet while you pump, you can still use a shallow pump no matter how deep the well is.

Our septic system currently uses a shaft-type septic aerator (similar to Flagg-Air 340) in a round tank, which on occasion will flood up to the motor because of an effluent ditch problem (occurs 1 to 2 times a years in the spring). This has ruined the aerator on two occasions. The ditch is used by a number of people and I cannot get cooperation to have this dredged. Is there a shaft-type ...

Going to be doing some work on my shallow well replacing some stuff that is badly corroded. Had the suction pipe rust off right at the well head plug several years ago and had a well co. do a quick fix (which I should have gotten around to repairing a long time ago). Anyway, just curious, but is there a general rule for how deep in the water table in the well that the foot valve should be? I...

Hello i own a 40 acre lake that we duck hunt on a few times a year. Im looking for a pump that i could submerge or any other type of pump that i could run some pipe off of with holes so that it could circulate water just under the surface to prevent it from freezing. Any thoughts on what type of pump would work for this? Water depth at pump location 3 feet, distance for piping with hole 75 ...

I am digging my well with an air drill attached to the end of a pipe. The hole is kept full of water while drilling, and the exhaust from the drill runs up the pipe, witch caries water and shavings out of the hole. The firs 15 ft. wasn't to bad, a lot of little rocks that the water would not carry out so about every 5 ft. I would stop and get them out. At 15 ft. it was soft, sandy, dirt that went...

We have city water (not a well) which has good flow but low pressure. So we had a pressure boosting system put in about 7 years ago which consists of a pump and a pressure tank (Goulds V250). It seems like the pump is running alot lately. How would I troubleshoot the tank? The pump is set to turn on at 60 and shut off at 80 psi (we have a sprinkler system). What should the tank pressure be set to...

Hi, I noticed that my submersible sump in my 5-6' well had been running for days, even though we haven't had any rain. The sump was sputtering out a small stream of water, which was odd, since the hole was pretty dry. There was a lot of heat and steam in the hole since this thing was working overtime. I turned off the power at the supply, and the hole instantly filled with 5" of water....

A bathroom and sewage ejector system was installed in basement about 8-9 years ago, 2 years before I purchased the house. I think I need to replace the pump. 10 years ago we added a basement to our house and included a bathroom. This necessitated having a sewage tank and sump pump put in. This has worked fine until a few weeks ago. The pump wouldn't turn off. I know very little about these things, but I tore into it. I figured it was probably the float, but when I opened it up there was still a lot of water in the tank, so I figured the pump was ...

I have a 2" well with jet pump, I cannot get the pump to get anywater, I have primed it and can't get it to do anything, it was working fine 2 days ago. I'm guessing my well has gone dry, I don't have the 5K to put in a new 5" well, and my house is up for sale so I would prefer to get this one working. can I add to my exisiting drop pipe? if so what do I need to do? Thanks
