Hi All, I would appreciate some help and advice. I am laying inter-locking flooring in my entrance hall. No problem with the flat surface BUT -- I have two stairs that I need to lay as well. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this. Having removed the carpet and underlay, the stairs still have a lip on them. Should I fill this so that the riser and the upper floor have a clean 90 deg edge...

I'm staining some red oak to match existing trim. I sanded using a 120 grit sandpaper, but the stain isn't getting as dark as I would like even though I apply it liberally and leave it on for about 15 minutes before wiping. Should I try a lower grit sandpaper, such as 100 grit? FYI, the stain I'm using is Sherwin-Williams, which is much thicker than the Minwax I started out with. The ...

Hi there, I am hoping someone can help me with this. I have a second hand table that used to be bar height. The previous owner had the legs cut to regular table height. However, the finish seems to have splintered (2 inches) at the foot of the legs. It is a dark finish but where it is splintered is now a light wood colour. How would I go about fixing this? n.

I'm stumped as to which combo kit to get. They both seem to be about the same and the compressors are comparable too (the Bostitch has a larger motor but the PC has 15 more PSI & more SCFM) I know they are both good brands but is one preferred over the other??? I'm only going to be using this for projects around the house, trim, crown, etc. I have a compressor but it's a large one ...

I've built a large freestanding bookcase unit previously, but now I'm looking at adding some built-in shelving units to walls. I'm thinking of attaching some vertical 1x10s to the walls, about 6' high each. In most cases, I'd toenail or screw down through the tops of the 1-bys and into studs, and toenail or screw several places down the sides, again into studs, as well as into the floor. ...

Hi, I'm trying to create a 2-piece wooden top for a pool table, with one side stained nicely (use for buffet table during parties) and the other side painted like a ping pong table. I've gotten 1/2 inch plywood that has a nicely sanded finish but have a few questions: 1. To create the sections I had two pieces of plywood cut down to 5', so each piece is 5'x 4'. That wasn't quite ...
