The red shield icon with the white x in it continuously pops up saying I have security problem. It then tries to connect to a web site that says the web page cannot be found. McAfee says i don't have a problem. How do i turn this thing off?

I have a yellow shield with a ! mark in it and a yellow triangle with a ! in it and it keeps popping up things on my screen and trying to get me to download security things. I just need to know how to get rid of it.

I've gotten this update from Microsoft repeatedly and the Update Icon will NOT leave my task bar! Even though I've 'installed' the update (more than once) the icon remains.
