A new question regarding the below. I'm looking at the logs from last night (this morning) when I tried to run DBCC CHECKDB against the database by itself. The steps were: I created a backup of the database; I then ran DBCC CHECKDB from SSMS; I watched it run for 3:31, and then it locked up; I then waited a few minutes and closed out of my Remote Desktop Connection session. Fabio, I think your problem is about the connection. Ensure that you use a correct path for your SQL Server' s instance name and ensure that you use correct information for the Login. To resolve your problem, you must study the link I've provided you about SQLCMD. A DBCC CHECKDB uses a LOT of resources such as memory, disk and CPU. Are you sure the system is just not plain overloaded? Have you checked any perfmon counters while this is happening? Are you paging to disk? How much memory is available? etc. etc. What is the hardware configuration like now? -- Andrew J.
