Ned Advice on where to start
Published (2008-11-17 19:32:00)
I have recently started a complete lifestyle overhaul. I started with quitting smoking which I have been smoke free for almost 2 weeks. I weigh 300 pounds and am 5'6. I have been overweight since puberty and have never followed an exercise plan. I have read every nutrition book throughout the years but have no idea where to start physically. I am only 29, and although I have no obvious health problems, I do have 3 kids I want to be around...

Ned Advice on where to start

Welcome to Prevention, Mommy! And congratulations on ditching the smokes--I think that's about the single best thing you can do for your health. As far as where to start, on the exercise side of the equation, start slowly. If you have an exercise bike, that's a great way to get some cardio without stressing your joints. Walking and swimming are great, too. Whatever you do, ease into it--we've all started off all gung-ho, gotten...

Ned Advice on where to start

Hi, Welcome! Hey, do you watch the TV Show The Biggest Loser? Alot of those contestants are alot like you, in wanting to loose weight, get into shape and be around for their Families. You not alone! Many of them had no idea where to start either. (Though their petty little arguments between the Constant's can be ignored, you can still learn alot from the overall Show and the Trainer's) I would suggest getting the Books from the...

I had a breast reduction eight years ago; the doctor said he would do liposuction on the sides of my chest but he didn`t. Now I am left with two unsightly bulges of fat that are noticeable when I lift my arms and from behind. I have lost 30 pounds by strength training but can`t get rid of these bulges. Does anyone know any exercises that I can do to get rid of this?

my mom was recently looking for exercises for your face, so when you get older your face doesn't sag. She said she used to know what they were but doesn't know anymore or where to find out what they are. Does anyone know?

I've read that you should give your body time to heal between workout days, but what if you're not sore? It felt like a struggle at the time, but I haven't felt any pain since. Is it possible I'm not working hard enough? And is it okay to do it again if I feel fine? -Melissa As of November 9th:
