Samsung here and I've just finished watching this week's recording. I didn't get any break-up but there were several brief picture freezes. I had one incident FFing out of an advert break where the picture got stuck. Exit then Play and it was back again. Unlike freezes I got with the old EPG this one was not on the recording. Looks like it just stopped rather than having a few seconds without any frames.

This thread does indeed make a change to the 'Why does my box not have the new EPG'; 'New EPG is shite'; 'I'll post about Virgin even though it's the Sky+ HD Forum' ones that crop up on a daily basis. Furthermore, it amazes the amount of EPG threads cropping up when there's a sticky right at the top of this forum!

Is this deal just for new customers to Sky or open to existing customers as FREE installation would be good with the FREE Sky + HD box IMO.
Thanks

I like what your saying but i feel that if sky were to move Sky1 SD to say where Sky1 HD is it may upset non HD viewers abit.
Maybe they should put sky1 HD where sky three is? I rarely watch anything on there, but for repeats of futurama .

i think you've got a serious prob there sky & first line tend to use the cheapest cable possible however a reputable independant will normally use decent cai approved cable usually h109f , as for the dishes we all use the raven ones unless the customer requests something else, where abouts are you might be able to help

This is just going over old ground.
My speculation:
When it was rolled out to Thomson boxes, they blamed the faults on "flakey hardware" When the same faults happened on brand new Pace boxes they sat up and took note and have finally realised there are some serious problems.
The "interview" a month or so back on DS claiming the software rollout...

I too have a 768 line screen and I agree with you.
The biggest improvement in "HD" is the lack of compression artifacts (most SD is now way over compressed sub SD quality)
But I can see that improvement on BBC HD even if I view it via scart.
Switching from scart to (in my case) component HD input does give a further improvement, but not a vast one and only ...

When you get the pack in the post.
There's no point making new threads, just read the ones already there to realise nobody really knows the exact schedule. Just wait your turn.

from memory, I think the current guesstimate in the huge EPG thread is around 9th-11th May. I have a Samsung box too so I hope it's sooner than that, but it sounds realistic to me. There's still plenty of Thomson boxes to be updated.

It's a US cable channel. Ive seen it over there a few times.
I don't think its available in the UK but im guessing they leave the advertisement on some films shown on Sky maybe?

Considering the price you paid I would have taken the box and everything while he was installing the new one!
Was it a Sky branded box or a brown one?
If you had have haggled with them or even threatened to cancel you might have got it for cheaper. £199 + £60 install (to swap a few cables over?!) for a box when new subscribers are getting them for £49 is a travesty. ...

Yes, the new EPG has many new features and enhancements that make it potentially much better than the old one.
However, it has issues for a great many people, including me.
It has made many boxes more unstable, and far more likely to have recordings fail, which as far as I'm concerned is a big issue.
I wouldn't want to go back to the old software for many reasons, ...
