My service provider both voice and BB is sky... What dose worry me is that if you request a service vist and no fault is found you will be billed a hefty charge. I think I'll let things ride for a while and see if there is any change , eith good or bad. My only option then is to change service provider.... all my services. I doubt I'd go with BT as I feel they never quite hit the spot regarding prices. In the days when the telecoms...

Well first off see if your exchange offers LLU from SKY or O2. I've been looking at O2 and on the surface they look very good, go through Quidco and also a 3 month free offer really is impressive and makes the whole point of SKY using Broadband as a loss leading bundler irrelevant.

Am I right to complain?

I finally got a reply to my email from a sky guy, saying he's adjusted my line, and to monitor it for a week and let him know. I'm now receiving an actual downloading speed of between 80 and 100kb/s depending on time of day. It's better than i was getting, but I still feel I should be getting way more. My brother lives next door and is on Virgin, and he gets literally 2MB/s

(Example - my attenuation is at 40dB, yet i can only sync to around 7.5M - not 11MB as indicated in the chart....

It will depend on what your individual line can support and that will be determined when Sky have tested the line, over a period of (IIRC) two weeks or so. They will inform you when line testing is about to commence... and you can check the current status on your "My Sky" account on their website.
You can check the probabilities from your router stats. I am 1KM from the ...

As you say using the master socket is good for determining if it's a wiring issue in the home but beyond that it's SKY and maybe BT who have to address performance issues.
I an inclined to believe it's the usual poor training and indifferent CS rep any organisation with lax oversight or planning can end up with.

To use inSSIDer correctly you need to look at what is going on around you and then set the channel on the Sky router to one that not only is not in use but at least two away from any that are.
A second cause of the problem could be interference (like an AV sender for example) in your house.
BTW, because the output of ALL WiFi devices is governed by law, it cannot be...

They are going to start more closely monitoring and controlling (proably not the right word but hey) the over users, I.E. those on low packages who continually go over the limits. A tool is supposed to be in the pipe line not sure how far away this is thoug

Whilst i was chatting to the first person in regard to my 4Mb cap, i was told that my download speed might increase if i was to change my package to the " Mid Package ", i did ask how this was possible as it would still be on the same phone line, and if this was the case, did that mean that " sky " does infact cap speeds.
Answer:- No but the download speed would possibly ...
