The Simon Mayo Debate

Black Crow is correct; I very much doubt there would have been half as many complaints if Simon Mayo had replaced Johnnie Walker.

5 Live NOT at Old Trafford
Published (2009-11-25 22:04:00)
It's the same situation with talkSPORT. Basically Manchester United (who are able to sell the radio rights to their home games in Europe) are asking radio stations to pay the price they usually would to acquire commentary rights in order to simply carry reports on their Champions League games at Old Trafford. As talkSPORT have a contract with Chelsea to carry commentaries of their games and Five Live have favoured covering Chelsea when...

In the early days of the Network Chart Jim Diamond's "I Should Have Known Better" wasn't Number 1 in the week that the BBC chart had it at the top. I was working in ILR at the time, but nobody took the Network Chart seriously. It just seemed silly when every other media outlet was reporting that Jim was Number 1 we had to pretend that something else was. ...

Well does anyone have the figures for Romeo and Gina's shows in the areas where they are being networked? I seem to recall someone saying MFR's had gone up since Gnia was introduced. That may well be your answer. We may not be fans, but others may be. For all its faults their efforts are quite a bit slicker than some of the offerings, especially between ...

Bit weird that its the cumbernauld tx thats down , usually its the hamilton tx thats dodgy . I wonder that now after 10 years the tx's should be seriously looked at , i can think of about 4 or 5 times in the last year that the station has been off air due to transmiter problems , thats a shocking amount . Agreed with radiogaz that revival is a waste , but with its wealthy ...

I feel the real issue is that station managers now discourage "personality" presenters and prefer "format robots" who remain on message. Possibly a strategy to bring us to the inevitable conclusion you seem to have reached?
