cRAZY QUESTION ABOUT CAT FLAP?
Published (2009-11-26 10:56:00)
You can buy any number of magnets for a catflap. It would be expensive buying collars and magnets for 17 (I agree SM and Wilhemina, you would need a very large house for 17 cats to have the necessary resources). However you would have to fit the catflap the 'wrong way round', as they are designed to stop other cats COMING IN, not prevent them from going out.

Well I used to have a regular squirrel visitor and to stop him chewing up my bird peanut feeders, I made him one of his own, that he could see the nuts, lift the lid and eat to his hearts content. You can actually buy them in Pets at Home and elsewhere. I only ever had the one, he didn't set up home, or bring his mates. There's been one once or twice this summer too, but ...

I'm sorry to hear your wee dog isn't well at the moment. I don't have personal experience of heart murmurs in dogs, but I believe depending on the severity of the murmur, most dogs live quite happily with it.
All the very best for Thursday, I know how worrying it will be for you at the moment (we are going through something similar with our cat) and can only advise ...

Why not go to the rescue centre and get a standard moggy who need s a new home (they do kittens too)
Much better to teach your kids about the benefits of rehoming a mistreated animal as opposed to what breed is best!!
I don't get the obsession with having pedigree's / certain breeds at all
Edit to say: I re-read your post and I hope your next cat doesn't have...

If the RSPCA wants to help animals they can start by stop telling people it's okay to eat them.

Ask if the vet could give an injectable long-acting antibiotic rather than the tablets?
You could try hiding her food in different places around the house so she spends time foraging/hunting for it and you could increase object play with toys however part of the problem with keeping her in is because her long-standing expectation is free access to outside.
You are ...

A 14 week old kitten out on a main road... poor little thing. What were the owners thinking. Unfortunately it is not unlikely he has been abandoned, rather than got lost.
If the owners want him back they will be making efforts to find him by ringing every rescue organisation and vet, and postering every local tree. You've already done all you can.... what a shame you ...

When we had a Chi we found no kennels would take her, only home based operations like you just described. The size and delicacy were main reasons we were given. Made us reevaluate holidays as we didn't want to separate our 3 dogs so have always taken them with us since.
