No playback after adding swipe

I am having what I believe to be a related problem now...New project...when I add the "on Fire" swipes, the audio in the playback stops working...in other words there is no audio. I fiddle around with it and found if I switch the Default Device under Audio Hardware in preferences to Premiere Pro Windows Sound I get the audio back. When set to ASio4All v2 (as it was previously set) I get no audio. I am not savvy enough about...

By playback window 'no longer works' do you mean that you hit play, and nothing moves in the playback window? Do you get sound? Or nothing at all? My playback window will occasionally freeze on me but I still get sound so I know it is working in the background. Seems to only happen when I have several video layers so I'd say it's just that the cpu isn't able to keep up with the preview ...
