Hi y'all, I can't wait for the election to be over so I can get some free time. Here's few captures from recent shoots. Recently the click ponds were busy the big attraction was the draining of the pond which left a lot of fish high and dry this is the white morph of the GBH The action was OK at the ponds but then some dolt complained to ...

I get out there early. Nothing happening, so I grab my stuff and start searching. I see some herons and egrets in the distance, I hike about a mile with my gear, and they take off and settle down 1/4 mile away. So I go after them again, and they do it to me again. I'n not set up for shooting BIF's on account of the 1.4X I had on with taped pins. AF is too slow, so with the TC on I'm locked into ...

Another Horicon Marsh shot that I had to add a little canvas to since the bird was in the upper right quadrant of the frame...luckily I got all of him. Almost had a full framer!

really all it did was walk around until it got irritated enough to leave. I tried not to bother it but this isn't Fla. they're a little sensitive up here. 1. 2 3 4 & hey Ric the only thing I could even get a sniff of a shot at was this Grebe at Green Island. I saw stuff (owl, hawk herron, wood duck, kingfisher) just couldn't get a shot.

We're not talking beautiful shots of egrets and herons. We're not talking exquisite portraits of beautiful, interesting birds. This is what we're talking when we say "slim pickin's" (everything 40D, 100-400L @ 400mm w/ 1.4X) OK, it really wasn't that bad today. I saw a bunch of deer lounging in the alfalfa. Badly backlit and distorted by rising heat and distance, but ...

Following up on Kdog's post here is a 2nd view of those dirty snakes doing the horizontal mambo Here is what they were doing when they originaly caught our attention. I have never seen rattle snakes standing up like this. 1. 2. Joel had the advantage of the snakes being on his side of the Jeep so he stayed in while I got out to get a few other shots. Such a cute ...

You're all a bunch of sandbaggers. This is truly slim pickins. I was camoed up with a net over my face. Without being able to see my eyes this guy couldn't figure out what I was. He wouldn't go away and even tried dropping twigs on me to try to get me to move. He flew by me within five feet or so several times to look close but would only land in the trees above. I hadn't snapped a shot all ...
