Sorry, I think the purchaser is going to need to buy a receiver. If memory serves correct, the high level inputs are for those who are using the sub if they do not have a dedicated LFE or subwoofer out on their receiver (like an old 2-channel stereo one). This allows the user to send its full range info to the sub from the L & R channels, then allows the signal to be cut via electronic crossover before being sent to the speakers. The...

Hey Grosser, If you check my post above, it gives you what I feel some adequate benchmarks are (DD receiver, 5.1 speaker set from a speaker manufacturer). Heck, I could likely set you up with a nice starter set in Canada for C$400 (H/K AVR130, and an Athena Micra 6, or maybe a set of older PSBs....)! uuummm wow, I checked out the H/K AVR130 !!! Holy crap, I've never even seen something like that, so many inputs and varyitions !!! And...

Hey, I am looking to buy a set of tower speakers for my surround sound. I have read that your speakers should all be from the same company. The problem I have is mine is a mix as it was put together on a budget and very quickly. I have a 7.1 system with : Athena centre speaker Polk Audio sub Jamo side speakers ( which have to stay, due to the wife ) Cerwin Vega rear speakers I was thinking of getting a set of athena tower speakers and rear...

I agree with both Eljay and Scott's good advices. Personally, Klipsh is not a good trade off for the Athena. NOTE: adding your location to your sig should help us help you. Cheers! TK

I have 4 of the previous RS 6's and an RSLCR centre. They were well below my budget in price, but to my ears were the best in my price range of near double what I paid.I am powering them with a Marantz SR 8002.They sound real good on Cambridge Audio amps too.

^ BB/FS only sell the lower end of all the other "brand name" A/V gear they sell, why should these be different? To me it says ML is selling some cheap-ass speakers, cheap-ass compared to what they're known for selling. I could be wrong about this instance, but BB/FS gave up on higher-end A/V gear about 5 years ago IIRC when it didn't sell and they had to blow it out. Doesn't really seem to be ...

+1 on used. With a bit of patience, you can find some great deals and assemble a really good system for a lot less than new. CanuckAudioMart.com is a great site to buy from.

A friend of mine has the Logitech Z-5500 5.1 system and it sounds great. If the X540 is remotely comparable, it should sound pretty good.
You can't connect the MP3 player's headphone jack to the Logitech's headphone jack because the latter is an OUTput, not an INput. According to page 4 of the X540's owner's manual, you'll need to go from the player's headphone jack to the green-coded ...

Pairing a CC-390 v5 with Monitor 7 v4s?
I'd like to move from my CC-370 v3 to a bigger center channel speaker that will better match my Monitor 7 v4s. I was recently told by a rep at Paradigm that a CC-390 v4 would be the ideal match, but after a couple of weeks of fruitless searching to find some sort of info. on such a beast, I contacted ...

I hate to suggest something that's so obvious, but are you sure that the bi-wiring clips between the upper and lower terminals are making contact? I auditioned some R616s early this summer and told the seller that one of the tweeters was dead. I was about to walk away from the deal when he discovered that one of the metal clips wasn't making contact with the top terminals. In a moment the tweeter...

Although I haven't actually demo'd an ESW-V10, I've read lots of good things about it. It appears to be a worthy successor to Energy's S10.3 which, I know for a fact, is an awesome little sub.
The ESW has been on sale at F.S. for as low as... (I'll PM you the price, since we're not supposed to post it here.)
If your buddy can snag one for you at that price, you should go for it: You'd be ...

My suggestion - assuming you like, and would like to keep, your Athena centre - is to wait for a good-condition used pair of Athena speakers to pop up on CanuckAudioMart.com or on your local [cityname].kijiji.ca or used[cityname].com site.

Is that what they are called? "Pro-Audio"? I've never heard of them. Sounds like a set of "White Van" speakers too me.
Two really good Canadian makes are Paradigm and PSB.

Mirage Question
Hi all,
Looking at picking up a used set of speakers, and wondered who has had experience with Mirage. Currently I am using API products (Athenas), and have heard the Mirages are interesting.
Anyways, a seller is offering a set of Mirage M-390is speakers, which are not a Mirage dipole offering - these are ...

I bought the Yamaha YSP 1100 as a solution to not ripping up our carpets to install normal surround sound speakers and set it up as instructed. I sold my Definitive Technology satellite speakers used in our previous home and I'd do anything to get them back.
