Looking To Add An Outlet
Published (2009-12-08 11:15:00)
Quote: So my original question was still not answered. When Rogers comes to "add" an outlet, is it simply just another split or is it completly new line coming from the grey box? I actually did answer it it post 4. I said it depends and I outlined various options (as did mr weather ). You don't need to purchase splitters and Rogers will supply them if you have the line run properly with RG6 to the various locations...

In homes with forced air heating, there's one set of ducts to carry warm air from the furnace and another to return the cold air to it. Any cable run in air ducts is supposed to be plenum rated. Plenum rated means the insulation is flame retardant and, when burned, produces minimal smoke.

No stereo sound on explorer 3200
Published (2009-12-04 13:37:00)
I got a 3200 stb from a rogers plus store yesterday and on both connections I've set up (coax cable and composite cable) I get no stereo sound (just mono). The only way I can play stereo sound is to connect the tv directly to the wall outlet (regular analog channels only), so basically to NOT USE the STB. I'm going to return the box and get it replaced, but as I cannot do it until Monday I was thinking to see if I'm not doing...

When I call Rogers up to add this outlet, would I be charged? I'm on VIP and only using 2 outlets now.

edit: In the audio section of DHC, I posted my rant about Bose Wave's crappy credit card-size remote controls and how the "AUX" on the Bose remote stopped working and I was stuck on radio presets or CD and couldn't get back. My frustration w/ the Rogers remote (Scientific Atlanta) is that there was no way to get BACK to "AUX" using it. Long story short, I found a solution: Using the instructions on...

I've tried several TV shows on ROD and these functions are all disabled.. They will never be able to compete with other 'internet offerings' if they are going to force you to watch commercials, and will not let you pause the show.. i have 3 kids that are constantly interrupting my show, yet I can't rewind or pause? ... forget it.. not worth the effort.

OK I will start.....
I am very interested in the MLB Network that just launched in the US. I know the CRTC has approved a "baseball channel", and I have heard no news at all about this channel coming to any provider.
I am assuming they will have to make it a Blue Jays network to get Can-Con in there, like the Raptors channel.
I am hoping things get going on this channel fairly soon, as ...

Wow that would be very good it's been a long time but more importantly would be a more accurate as seems they are still changing names of
Programs (ie HD added or removed from title) last minute and this does not work well with PVRs

maybe someone in the studio tripped over one of the wires that carrys the video signal? i noticed some funky stuff on sportsnet channels in the last couple days, durring a soccer match with Zurich and Milan, someone in the on-screen graphics control room, accidentally rested their elbow on some of the scoreboard controlls changing the score from 1-1 to 52-1 half way through the game, then ...

On-Demand issue
I have 2 cable boxes (1 in my bedroom and 1 in living room). The other night my family wanted to watch TMN on demand in the living room. When I selected the movie it said it couldn't be accessed and to contact Rogers, which I did. They said to unplug it and plug it back in and it didn't work.

It would probably depend on the layout of your home, how cable could be added, etc. I suggest you contact Rogers for any cable changes since you're on VIP. The Broadband connection should be the first split at the demarcation point, but sometimes they "make do" if it means a lot of work or long additional cable runs, etc - provided everything works...

Have you done a cold reboot (unplug/replug)? Have you checked your signal strength on the affected channels?

I have a explorer 3200 plug in with a RG 6 cable with it being split with a 8300 HD and cable modem. When I turn to channel 24 and 192 I cannot get the channel it's gets a black screen. But if I take a that box to some else where in the house I can get those channel! And if I just plug it straight in that line without splitting anything it still doesn't get those channel!

In response to the OP's question, I had a similar problem with the new remote right out of the box.
When I pressed the volume button the tv button would flash twice.
So I called rogers and talked to the tech dpt. May sound stupid to call up with a question like this but I was really frustrated.
I wish I could reiterate what he had me do to the remote(some kind of setup) but whatever it was...
