Well according to Tvlurker, Bell owns VDN, if I understood correctly. So it makes sense that they would use the same feeds. Btw, sorry about the confusion with Videotron, didn't know VDN was a different company.

Sorry, man. I don't agree. It's because of my license approval that I managed to attract the attention of a few cable companies. Without that, I'd be nowhere today.

Only downside here is that it is a few dollars more per month to rent than a DCT-3400 and there is no Netflix (not available in Canada) impulse PPV or VOD. PPV can still be done over the phone and VOD is expected in 2010. Despite that, it shows that TiVo HD can be done in Canada.

I wonder if anybody with TV provider other than Shaw also have solid proof that CBC HD is being carried by your provider with lower PQ and bitrate compare to CTV HD, Global HD, and whatever other local HD stations, and also lower than CBC HD on OTA? You can check bitrate of a recording from the diagnostic menu of your DVR box.

Yes - we offer Motorola boxes, and we've also started offering the TiVo HD boxes. Customers can choose what they want.

Again...Have a look at the HBO Movie Premieres website page. Most of these movies have already aired on TMN. http://www.hbo.com/premieres/ The funny thing is I find myself defending TMN/HBO C even though I think TMN has taken a slide backwards since it re-branded itself. [Who needs boxing on a movies channel?] That said, I visit my friend in Rhode Island twice a year and watch HBO at his house and still see nothing on it that makes me...

Those two channels would not be my preferance for the extra $2.....so happy that the consumer is consulted.......the option of cancelling it all is becoming very inviting. Unfortunately we lack access to the American Channels in HD /OTA that we regularly watch.

Who's responsible?...

If the same program is being shown on a Canadian and American channel, the BDU is required to allot more bandwidth to the Canadian Channel. For this reason I program my PVR to the Canadian Channels. (except for Global, which is still stuck in the stone age)

Hey just calling it like I see it man, no offense. I don't have exact figures but I would wager that less then 10% of all channels licensed by the CRTC since 2001 (start of digital TV) have actually managed to launch. I hope your channel makes it because...

How does Rogers equate a 1.5% tax to an additional $50-$100 per sub per year?
I pay about $50/mo before taxes for my TV. If that went up by 75cents (1.5%) per month to make this whole FFC thing go away, I think I would be more than OK with that. The providers raise their prices faster than that anyway.

I'm pretty sure the bdu has nothing to do with it and that the broadcaster is responsible, but I don't know for certain. But it doesn't sound like its something the bdu can control.

First I have to apologize for having reposted this problem on the official CBC thread. I have no intention to violate forum rules. I appreciate the works all the moderators have done to make surfing this forum a pleasurable experience.
I initially posted this problem on the Shaw thread looking for positive outcome like perhaps an easy fix due to an honest mistake which is not unheard of. FYI...

Actually TSN2 and SunTV are available on Videotron according to their website, either way I don't really have answer to your question. Perhaps this should be in the Videotron forum?
Also according to their site, the US networks are from Burlington/Plattsburgh, not Boston.

Channels Yet To Launch
I did some research via the CRTC website and have compiled a list of channels that are yet to launch. Just thought you might like to know.
ASTRAL - Canal Justice, Chez Moi, Tele-Reve, Tele-Vitesse, Vrak Junior, Family Extreme, Boyz Own (Family), and Parent Channel (Family)

See the Super Bowl threads, this was pretty much covered in all those threads.
In a nutshell, anywhere you have a CTV or Global HD OTA signal within 90 kilometres or so you have simulcasting on the local cable provider. So if you subscribe to cable in the GTA, GVA, Calgary, Edmonton, Montreal then simulcasting is happening.
For Bell TV subscribers, it's across the country since they don't ...

Picture Quality: Cogeco vs Bell
I have two choices for HDTV service in my area:
Cogeco or Bell.
Which one has better HDTV picture quality or are they both about the same?
Is Starchoice any better and if so, what are the drawbacks between Starchoice service and Cogeco or Bell?

I was just watching CBC News Network and had to stop. They had the president of CTV Globemedia crying a river. He tries to be seen as a victim of cable.
Here in the Maritimes, we don't have the luxury of having 100's of OTA channels. If we want to watch stuff, we either have to go with cable or satellite. One of his arguments was truly pathetic. He mentions that he doesn't want us, the cable ...

This is a link to the thread I posted with all of the current unlaunched channels (well most of them), I think I missed some of the more recent ones.
