There's no thumb rule for SWAP twice as RAM. For RAM as "high"(duh!) as 1GB, I don't recommend SWAP double the RAM. Keep it some size larger. I'll suggest 1.1-1.3GB. However 512MB would be OK too but in that case Hibernate will NOT work, so keep in mind. And no it wasn't that hard work.

^this is a hard drive image of the compiled OS. you can compile it yourself, on Ubuntu, there are very detailed tutorials on the chrome website, it just takes a whole, so yeah, this is pretty much the OS in its current state

w32codecs may not be the solution but you can instead install totem-xine (search in synaptic) in place of regular totem which uses gstreamer. Also add medibuntu repository for latest codecs.

Arch is my choice. However there are dozens of other options. Ive been using an OS called NimbleX for sometime now on two low end systems its got some problems but it does its job as intended at a small memory cost. Puppy seems to be a fine choice also btw. If you really want to go Hardcore check out articles on trimming Ubuntu by loads. Search for Kmandla .
