I've had an android phone for months but just now decided to try pandora(figured since I have no 3g in my area it'd be useless). That is an awesome app but it's made even better by the fact that I can still do stuff with my phone while streaming music off the internet. It drains the battery but I have an extended one so my phone endures.

To be perfectly honest, I kind of like the thumbstick idea. Something like that would be really useful for gaming, as it combines the acuracy of movement with the thumbstick with aiming with the mouse. It could even be useful beyond gaming. I can imaging this kind of design making 3D rendering software a lot easier and faster to use, and the thumbstick could even be useful in 2D applications such as Firefox- imagine using the thumbstick in...

Well the T-Mobile 1.5 Cupcake update was like that. 1.1 and 1.6 was fine. Also the third party mods of 1.5 did not lag. T-Mobile really dropped the ball on that update but those issues have been fixed.

"At the same time, who has a more robust software selection? Windows or OS X. Windows does. Why? Because, Windows has the capability of running on a multitude of different devices." Windows isn't just popular because it runs on a multitude of different devices (and Linux runs on more hardware than Windows). For every example you can provide a product with more models selling better I can provide a counterexample. I...

The G1 is wonderful :) - does anyone have any idea when 2.0 recovery ROMs will be released? More importantly, when will a 2.0 Cyanogen Mod be released? ;) (the best part about an Android phone? root access, hell yeah :D ). Nevertheless, the Droid, as well as some of the other sweet new phones coming out with Android, might actually start to poke a hole in the Apple balloon :)

@Nerfdude - "it's the same concept applied to a smaller device." Um... People touch-type on a typewriter or a computer so that they can look at the OUTPUT of the typing while they are doing it. The output of using a mobile device means that you are not looking at the device AT ALL, because the screen and keyboard are right next to each other. It's trivial to look at both, or at the very least to have one in fully...

The effort, you retard! But now that you mention it, when a girl says it's a good size ... it's a nice way of saying that it's small.

Hilarious. Soo accurate to my experience with my 3GS too. Switched to a Droid and it's absolute best feature is that I have yet to ever lose my signal or have connection problems.

I got the Rogue from Verizon a month ago and now I'm regretting it. That phone looks incredible. Between the incredible hardware specs, the well designed and robust software, and the extensive network, it's going to be interesting what the other carriers will come up with to combat this. An Android price war, anyone?

The Droid is not the only phone which will have a lot of these features. I've got an HTC Magic (MyTouch) which is definitely not as sexy as the iPhone or Droid in terms of hardware, but overall the Android experience has been solid and I have been seeing it get better and better with each update. 2.0 looks to be a real winner, can't wait till they roll it out to my Magic. I think Apple have ...

Interesting take. Most of the issues seem software related. I am sure the blogsphere croud will be able to "tweak" these issues and make them work like the multi-touch. I do wonder if these issue, especially the music synch and the movie playback missing features, will deter the general public from embracing the phone. ...less units out there means less development...
