To use a UK example, you can get far better smartphones (i.e not the iPhone) for free on a cheaper contract. I can buy any Nokia/HTC/SE smartphone sim-free for less than o2 and Orange want for their locked iPhones on pay as you go.

This is sorta reasonable; they're using Apple's trademark in the name of their App. That said, it is rather rude to approve one Iphone book but not approve another one.
