Towing stability with 19.5s

I love my 19.5's, they have less sidewall flex and tend to slide while steering v/s rolling under the wheel. The ride is a little rougher, but I am driving a tow rig, it should be rough

I would call Rhode Island BMV and ask them. Here in Ohio you need a weight ticket from a certified scale. Dave / Believer45

Hey dorlia2, HERE is some good info regarding choices of trucks for towing. It may be more than you're looking for, but good info regardless of your tow vehicle choice. It's RV focused, but towing is towing. Have fun choosing.

441 in the Smokies
Published (2009-11-01 11:55:00)
Being a local I thought Id throw in some extra advice for you. Thanks to the stimulus package the park service is doing alot of work on 441 with lane closers on 441 and generally narrower lanes. You would want to check the nps website for info on when and where this is happening. With the rock slide, 441 is alot busier!! Also the park service has been ticketing alot of RV and tour busses on the route that don't stay in there lane (its...

Skip the 1-tons. You would need an F450 at the bare minimum, both due to
combined weight and pin weight on the rear axle. That rules out Chevy, and
would from Dodge would require a 4500 cab/chassis. If the trailer alone
will be 32k, then F550 or even better would a Medium Duty class 6 truck.

Should work. Any decent welding shop can replace the gooseneck with a pinbox and kingpin. A Sidewinder is a simple pin box extender that moves the pin...

being from oregon, best i can remember is all the scales says rigs over 26000 must weigh. Unless you are towing something obviously large i wouldn't concern yourself with it. I tow quite a bith with my 08 and my moms dually, and we haul tractors with the inlaws equipment trailer and havent been bothered once

Not much info available. The order guide for a 2005 and 2006 F-550 said only that diesel engine and 4.88 limited-slip axle was required, and that the pkg included an "upgraded" rear axle. The axle is a Dana/Spicer 110, but somehow the one with the high capacity towing pkg is different than the standard Dana S-110 limited slip 4.88 that is optional in the F-550 without the high capacity towing ...

I may be taking this wrong, but I think your referring to electric over hydraulic braking. A lot of the newer trailers have hydraulic braking, that is controlled via an electric brake controller from the tow vehicle.
If you have the factory tow command already, it will work with most of the later model hydraulic systems. It works better with some systems than others. Check with the ...

We did 441 with a 2001 F250 and 28 ft TT and had no problems. I'd do it
again with our current setup. It's an enjoyable ride - unless an unexpected
snow- ice storm pops up.

"Wet" Shackle bolt problem
I have a 3axle fifth wheel that has the wet shackle bolts. I know the previous owner never lubed them. When i tried to, i could not get grease to about four of them. I am familiar with how zerk fittings work, unfortunately these are not removable.
I got the ball free on the zerks but they just won't take ...
