OK, let me rephrase my response so as to remove any confusion as to what I meant. Mounting the rails to to the bed bolts only, without some form of substantial frame connector, is inadequate in my opinion. I endorsed the pre-formed brackets because they are ultra simple to install. That having been said, they can (and probably will) hamper the installation of air bags. I have the "L" brackets on mine because I have airbags,...

Well, I think I am going to try to get the local bed. I have thoroughly studied the flatbed builds here on the site and really like the design of his hitch. I think I can use the hitch design to "re-create" the look of the rear of the Bradford Built beds. If I can get a few hundred bucks for my bed, I will come out almost even. Sounds like I have a nice little project in front of me.

Check the connection from truck to trailer, I just scraped a bunch of corrosion out of mine (on the truck side) for my trailer brakes to work. Good luck

I had to run larger brake wires on my trailer. I could put the controller on 10 and one wheel would barely work. Since I rewired it works great. Had someone tell me they ran larger wires on their truck. The longer and heavier trailers pull too many amps through the small wires.

one note, the bradford beds do weigh about 900lbs. i have air bags on my truck and keep just under 30 lbs to keep the truck level.

I only use 80# in my 1 ton when I am carrying a load. Other wise It is 60# or 70# empty. I would try a lower pressure than the 80#

I believe the wires on the truck are sufficient. I pull a tandem axle utility trailer behind my 5er and all 5 axles work well.

New truck, New hitch, old trailer, new problem. I recently purchased a 2008, F350 DRW, long bed, crew cab truck with the 6.4 Power stroke. I installed a B & W turnover ball and Companion 5th wheel hitch because of the good reviews I have read online and because the hitch is easily removable by one person and there are no rails mounted ...

We did 441 with a 2001 F250 and 28 ft TT and had no problems. I'd do it again with our current setup. It's an enjoyable ride - unless an unexpected snow-ice storm pops up.

Probably the refrigerator. I have seen several burn exactly the same way, I believe most all of them were traced back to the Norcold brand refrigerators. There was a recall but some are still out there causing fires.

If you mean the stock gauge, then that's really bad news. First, pull the tranny dipstick and check on the condition of the ATF. If it's not a nice light-red color with no hint of brown or grey, or if it smells burned, then you want to change the ATF immediately. Use the procedures in the '99-'07 Engine and Powertrain FAQ forum, and change to synthetic ATF. (Synthetic can handle a lot more heat...
