TTT mirrors vs. Fixed mirrors
Published (2009-11-30 13:56:00)
When I ordered my 2000 in July, 1999, they had the regular size or the fixed TT mirrors, and were waiting for the power TT mirrors that would power slide in and out, and tilt the mirror. I don't think those actually became available until around the 2002-2004 model (or later). I was always dissappointed that the power slide-in feature wasn't available for several years, but I heard at the time that they were having problems with the...

4x4 light out
Published (2009-11-27 18:11:00)
My 4x4 and LOW lights haven't worked for awhile now, but I know when I put it in 4-hi and 4-low so I'm not really that worried about it.

No High Beams
Published (2009-11-25 13:09:00)
I do not know about the fuse, but it sounds like you have 2 burnt out bulbs.... If low beams are working and no high beams, they are the same bulb. The truck shuts one filament off and turns the other one on. It is rare to have both go out, but I have seen it happen. If both bulbs are burnt out then no power is completing the circuit and therefore no indicator light for the high beams. The fog light could be as simple as the switch on the...

Casey's Diesel Fuel?
Published (2009-11-26 10:32:00)
ultra low sulfer fuel is the only thing you will get out of a pump nowadays. it is a good idea to use some sort of additive to help the injectors and fuel system to replace the sulfer that isn't in the fuel anymore.

I am also in Northern Cal. And my truck sits on the driveway for weeks at a time. I will start it and vary the RPM's until I feel warm water in the upper hose and then I may put it in drive and go 10 feet forward and 10 feet back and shut it off. My old '86 sat in the back yard for MONTHS at a time and never failed to fire up.

2005 6.0L Superduty Hub Seal Repair
Published (2009-11-29 16:47:00)
Here's a good writeup on ball joint replacement that covers the hubs as well. TheDieselStop.Com - www.thedieselstop.com If you have manual hubs, then that's probably not the cause of your 4x4 not working. If you have a shift knob on the dash, then someone has replaced the auto-locking hubs with manuals. If that's the case, look at the electrical shift motor or the relays that control it. If the hubs say AUTO-LOCK on them by the...

Hmmmm definitely some stuff to look into, the heat from the turbo makes sense, especially because my downpipe was leaking right onto the firewall, except that it was acting up when the truck was cold. I think i am going to pull it out and take it "somewhat" apart to see if anything jumps out at me. if that doesn't work i'll probably just settle for having a tape deck and the ipod hooked up directly to the deck until...

Do a search. This has been covered in detail in the last few months. From what I can remember the consensus is to buy a new sensor on ebay for less than the $72 the dealer gets and then swap out the existing sensor's until you find the bad one. Some have said to have the dealer can do a scan to identify the bad sensor. I guess that would make your life easier but I don't know at what cost. ...

If you mean the trailer tow mirrors that do not telescope compared to the later ones that do telescope, then there is no difference in the max distance they stick out from the door frame. The difference is that the telescoping mirrors collapse closer to the door frame, but when fully extended they are the same length as the non-telescoping trailer tow mirrors. I have a telescoping mirror on...

Sounds a little high, but it has low mileage on it. You might have some engine warranty left (depending on when it was put in service). I would get the vin and see if you could get an OASIS report pulled on it. Is this a private seller, or dealership? If private seller, I would insist on getting all of the repair records (if any), and oil/filter changes to make sure that it was being properly...

Yes, you can use the ones with the ABS sensor. Other than the sensor, there's no real difference. The connector for the wire should be behind your fender liner toward the back of the wheel well (even if you have RABS and not 4W ABS). The wire can be hooked up there without ill effect if you have RABS. Or you could remove the sensor and plug the hole somehow. Mine are plugged in - makes for a ...

Got a second recall notice I got a notice of recall in the mail yesterday. I thought it was the dealer bugging me for the CPS again, but it seems to be for something completely different. I had 2 of the Walmart Maxx's that ran for 6 years and 3 months, based upon the sticker. I don't know how much they cost back then, but now they are $75.00 installed. 3 year full replacement, then a 9 year prorate after that. They gave me $22.50 credit for each battery, bringing the total installed cost to about $60 each. Truck is driven only recreationally about 12K per year, sits for up...

Brakes pull to the right a bit Well, this has got my mechanic stymied. The truck pulls to the right when the brakes are applied. Not a huge amount, but enough that one cannot let go of the steering wheel. And, its not because of the crown in the road.. I've tested for that on flat surfaces. My trusty mechanic found a right side caliper...

Re: 4 x 4 auto locking hubs They are vacuum activated. The vacuum source is a pump on the passenger side fender. Your problem could be either a vacuum leak or sticky hubs.
