It is very common to see white exhaust smoke w/ an EGR cooler leak. You can also pull the EGR valve w/ the truck parked on a downhill incline and look for coolant under the EGR valve. IMO - if you see neither of these symptoms AND you are puking, it is most likely head gaskets. However, as fusaichi pegasus mentioned, there really can be quite a few causes: Common Causes for overheating and then puking (and/or excessive fan operation): Blown...

Thanks guys. I was able to go ahead and drive the truck MOnday. I'll be replacing the valve the next time I make it to the house off the road, this weekend. SO the '03 takes longer, huh? Go figure. Of course it's gonna take longer. I bought it!

It may need to be shimmed a bit. I think there was tsb. But maybe not. If it is lifted you definitely need to. If there is a driveshaft shop near you. Ask for some advice. I'm sure its happened before.

I assume you have the 6.0 already and that is why you want to take it. The best you can do is install a good fuel filter system, remove as many of the US emission control systems and then read this article for what extra parts to take. I still stand behind what i said originally. These trucks are just to complicated to be taken into very rural areas but i do wish you the best of luck. 6.0L Ford Power Stroke Engine - Ford Diesel Trucks - Diesel...

I would think your idea of finding some old bolts is the way to go,but you might ask the service manager if he will go along before going to much effort finding them. If he will not go along with sending mavarick bolts or if you don't find some right a way,it seems Ford could make the exception. On the other hand if there is no way you can afford to pay,you might be better off not ...

My truck has the same problem...It dose it sometimes. Well I found a ripped
intercooler boot the blue one that goes right into the turbo...That might
be the problem.

You'll lose no more than a cup of ATF changing the filter.

The second picture looks kind of like an injector tip to me. I have seen one embedding in a piston before. But if that were the case, the injector in that cylinder should be missing it's tip..
The wire, I have no ideas on.
What is Ford saying you did to cause this? If the truck is truly stock, I would make them put their reasons for denial in writing and then go up the food chain.

Only second oil change? First off I' d change the oil. How about the fuel filters? When where they last changed? If the oil hasn't been changed, the fuel filters probably havent been either...
I too, would like to hear more about Hot Shot Secret. Have considered trying it myself. I have heard of others that have had good luck with it. Other say they didn't notice a difference.

So, when do the questions start?
And, no question is dumb if you don't know the answer. Although frequently the answers can be dumb.

How does that plan work? Just extends it out to 7 years instead of 5, but what about the milage?

With original programming the only thing that will cause it to back down
fuel, timing etc is high oil temp. The 6.0 does not have any way to
calculate for the egts. The 08+ trucks have a factory sensor. For the 6.0
this is why you have to drill and tap for a egt temp gauge. The newest
flash looks like if coolant or oil temps get high it could reduce power to
save the engine if that happens or not...

From what I know the causes of a no start are low oil, hpop leak, bad ficm,
and 1 or more injectors that are bad. It should runn very rough with just
one bad injector. If you can look at the oil level. If it is low or close
add a quart. Then if that dosent fix it start looking at the high pressure
oil system for a leak. You have to have 500psi to fire the injectors. On
the ficm watch the voltage ...

Possibly taking the plunge with a 6.0 instead of a Dodge
Hi folks,
To start off, this is not meant to be a Ford vs. Dodge thread. I already know what the Dodges have to offer and to get the same/similar options in a Dodge would cost quite a bit more than a comparable Ford of the same vintage, more than likely due to the stigma of the 6.0...

Good Q. Havent used m/c for awhile, so dont know. However ITEC f.f's I bought earlier this yr. still had the "aqua block" on hfcm filter just like orig m/c FD 4604. Maybe factory screw up or just simply, cost contaiment?

Forgot to add...the general consensus around here is that he didn't drain
the cylinder...which might have led to a blown head gasket and hydrolocked
motor.

Are you sure the "relay" you are talking about wasn't referred to as an Injector Pressure Regulator? With an HPOP failure, it is common for an IPR to be ruined at the same time.
I definitely wouldn't say " the motor blew up". Be glad you have a warranty.
The truck kept running, albeit with less and less power because the guts of the pump can start to come apart, but still pump a bit of ...

Have they told you that they are not going to fix it??? Are they blaming it
on you? I think that when an engine blows up under warranty they really
investigate it before replacing it. I have a 04 550 that I use as a wrecker
it has 250k with relatively minor problems.

Pretty simple and straight forward. You need to t-30 to get the oil rail
bolts loose and a t-40 to get the injectors out. Which side are you
replacing?
